Tadanari Lee to make Premier League bow?
Forgotten man Tadanari Lee is hoping to stake a claim to replace Adam Lallana in the Saints team.
The Japanese striker has yet to feature in the Premier League after a promising start to his Saints career was halted in its tracks by injury.
Lee has been trying to prove his fitness and form as an overage player in the under-21s and is hoping for another chance to do exactly that tonight as Saints take on Newcastle in the first game to be played by the team at the Silverlake Stadium since a tie up with Eastleigh.
The 26-year-old arrived to quite a fanfare when he signed almost a year ago and enjoyed a decent start as he settled into life at the club, scoring a memorable goal against Derby.
However, injury problems have never been too far away for Lee who has figured just twice this season.
Both of those games have been in the Capital One Cup, with a goal in the comfortable 4-1 win at Stevenage and 67 minutes in the defeat at Leeds.
The knee ligament injury to Lallana, which is likely to rule him out for at least the Christmas and New Year fixtures, has opened the door to a number of Saints’ fringe players to step forward and try and grab themselves a spot in what has been a settled, and successful, side of late.
Being left footed and an energetic presence Lee could slot into the role filled by Lallana but he has serious competition to fend off.
Jay Rodriguez has also played there while Gaston Ramirez and Jason Puncheon are also both comfortable in that position, which could open the door for the likes of Emmanuel Mayuka and Guly do Prado who have had to settle for spots on the bench.
And that is assuming that Adkins keeps the same formation without Lallana’s considerable presence.
The game at Eastleigh this evening could also see the likes of Richard Chaplow, Frazer Richardson and Danny Fox getting a run out, while Artur Boruc could feature in goal.
Saints are allowed to field three over-age players in their under-21s side.
Saints’ under-21s are battling for a place in the Elite Group Stage of the Professional Development League and will play more home games at the Silverlake after Christmas.

Lose the ball 3/4 up the pitch and a counter attacking side can punish you.
If I remember correctly Ben Reeves came on as a Sub one game and the side seemed weaker on that side. He did not impose itself that day.
Tad. Lee also did not over impress in the last U-21 - but then he needs the quality around him to shine.
Gaston came on for Lallana last game and the play making actually improved.
The good news is that with J-Rod as well - Nigel has options.
The fans are pumped up for Sunderland and Fulham and WE WANT THE WINS.

Guly is up there with a good shout because of his energy and desire.
If the "fans" boo him it will be heard by the other players too. Remember Jose's reaction?
Do that again and do not be surprised if players decide to leave!
Yes they all heard it and none of them liked it!
Individual comments do not get seen, but the general impression is known throughout the squad.
Another poster on another thread spoke about a knockabout with Clyne on Millbrook Rec and said he was an ordinary bloke. They all are, they just happen to be brilliant at football.
Support whatever players the manager chooses and hope he knows what he is doing. Probably got a better idea than any of us, he works with the players on a daily basis

Play with belief and tenacity and guile and score the long over due goal - and the positivity of the Reading Game ....
and like Jason - he will return to being one of the fans favourites.
HE HAS WORK TO DO !!
Cannot wait to celebrate the 6 Points up on offer in next two games.

If NA thinks that Guly is good enough, I won't grumble, he has been getting a bad press, but that seems to be coming from people with poor perception of football, or have other issues.

Keep the right side strong, and just worry about filling one position.
I thought Lee's movement and link up play, last season, were quite good, so I'd like to see him given a chance.
He is also more of a goal threat, in open play, than Fox or Reeves, IMO, although they could both do a job there.
Could be decided by who plays down the right for Sunderland ... Adam Johnson (?), which may lead Adkins to give Shaw more protection.

If Guly is picked the fans should get behind him.ditto Danny Fox.SUNDERLAND is a must win game or certainly a must not ose game so whoever NA picks lets get behind the team.We can nit pick and be match of the day armchair critics when the ref has blown for full time.

Tad lee will hack it at this level but as with all players that remain mostly unused he will need to be cut a bit of slack.
personally I think he is a great player and will give 100%,as would Mayuka given the chance. Be great to see them paired up in a 4-4-2 with ramirez in the hole.
NA.s decision to play with effectively two holding midfielders was a masterstroke but we seem to sacrifice some width at times as a result.
Perhaps if a dominant CB comes in one of them can be freed up,to give us even more options.
Sir Ricky will be rested at some point, that will cause some to bite their nails, but it will happen.
Exciting times ,a great squad ,and only going to get better.

I thin anyone who boos Guly and/or Fox should show us all why they deserve a boo and get on the pitch themselves! They have no right at all to boo someone on something that they could only dream about doing. Bunch of cnuts
On the otherhand, not got a problem with Guly, harshly criticised, scored alot of vital goals last year and seems to be a confidence/luxury player, looks sharp at the moment and looks alot better than J-Rod.
Rant over, 3 points Saturday please, 3 -1 Guly first goal and a Lambert brace. Heard it here first.

There also is the knowledge that on a bad day he can make unforced errors And on a good day he can be sublime. The nervousness is understandable.
It would be good to see tad lee in the side if tactics warranted it, his goal last season looked so easy yet he knew He had to carry it the whole way

His effort is good, he can be a decent passer, he's not the best finisher, but neither is Puncheon or Lallana. I think the drink driving stuff got to him and he is paying his penalty for that. The guy needs to be supported like Puncheon has been. Even at the peak of his dispute he was not booed when he turned out for us.
