Three police stations in the borough could be threatened with closures under Scotland Yard plans revealed today.

In a Metropolitan Police report leaked to the London Evening Standard, Putney, Lavender Hill and Tooting police stations are listed as potential closures.

Wandsworth Police Station, a 24 hour police station in West Hill, Wandsworth, could also become part time.

This would leave the borough covered by only one 24 hour police station in Battersea Bridge Road.

A total of 60 stations in the capital are earmarked for closure, with all London boroughs being manned by only one 24 hour station, apart from Westminster.

The plans are part of Met plans to save £500m from its annual budget to meet Government spending targets.

A decision will be made in March.
