AS AN addition to David Butcher’s points (ViewPoints, December 19), he does have genuine fears.

Labour’s immigration policy was too lax and it has led to this situation.

My concern is that the majority of foreigners coming in are not prepared to adapt to a British way of life and refuse even to use the English language, therefore making integration harder, schooling of their children difficult, not to mention the strain on the NHS.

Whatever happened to the saying “when in Rome, do what the Romans do”?

I’ve no objection to these people, but a basic command of the English language shouldn’t be too much to ask for, should it?
