MIDFIELDER Danny Hollands believes Swindon Town are entering the most important phase of the season as they prepare for their Boxing Day clash at Leyton Orient.

Town face three games in six days against Orient, Colchester and Portsmouth, and go into the festive period fifth in League One following their 5-0 thumping of leaders Tranmere on Friday night.

Hollands set the tone in the fourth minute of the impressive victory, and believes Swindon can make a real statement over the next three games.

“We have won our last two games now which is a great thing, and it has given us a platform to work off now,” he said.

“We have two tough away games against Orient and Colchester, and Orient is not a great place to go even in the height of summer.

“You have to go there and win your tackles and your headers, and take your chances when they come.

“Personally I think this is a the most important stage of the season because you have so many games in such a short of space of time.

“We can be right up amongst everyone if we win the next two, we are fifth now and who says we can’t be first or second?

“We know it is going to be tough but we feel good, and we want to get as many points as possible.”

The Charlton loanee was pleased to score his first goal for the club against Tranmere, and is looking to add to his tally in the not too distant future “It took a little while to get going, and last season I scored eight goals and this time I have only got my first in December,” he said.

“It is something I want to improve on now, and with the team playing brilliantly and making chances I should be able to get a few more.

“First thing though is to cement a place in the team, because everyone is playing really well when they do play.”
