Saints target away win at Fulham

Emmanuel Mayuka reflects on a chance that went begging against Sunderland. Emmanuel Mayuka reflects on a chance that went begging against Sunderland.

Saints head into a “pressurised” meeting with Fulham on Boxing Day confident of a rare away success, despite a deflating defeat to Sunderland.

The club will spend Christmas Day still teetering on the brink of the relegation zone having dropped points in what was seen as a very winnable home game.

Boss Nigel Adkins admitted that losing to one of their fellow strugglers at St Mary’s is a damaging blow, but he insists they can patch the wound up with a second away victory of the season, at Craven Cottage.

The two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw earlier in the season, with the Saints boss taking heart from his side’s performance that day as they prepare to face an out-of-form Fulham side.

“I’ve highlighted you need to win your games at home, especially against the teams around us,” said Adkins. “It hasn’t gone our way. We’ll analyse it, we’ll quickly move on, we’ll draw a line underneath it and get ourselves ready for the next one.

“All the games are going to be pressurised. What we’ve got to do is make sure we regroup and get ourselves ready for Fulham.”

Adkins is a tactical mastermind, that's a great idea, let's go for the 3 points, not heard him say " We’ll analyse it, we’ll quickly move on, we’ll draw a line underneath it and get ourselves ready for the next one" before either, its great to hear something new from him,

Silly rumour ? Buckley would be a good addition to the squad particularly IF Lalanas injury were to keep him out injured for a long spell.Buckley is a tricky wide man who can score and i reckon could cut it in the P/Ship

Perhaps as a former physio Adkins knows Lallanas injury may require surgery

But we really need a new commanding C/H or two in the window.

I guess it would be a good capture, but the chance must be slim.

Saints are looking at the possibility of 2 straight away defeats, being passed by their neighbours Reading followed by QPR having some better results progressing with 'Arry' making up some lost ground in the same period.

Not missing the UK weather!

Correction, Saints are looking to avoid 2 straight away defeats, to pull away from the teams stranded at the bottom of the pile. Portsmouth are just looking and hoping.
