Forest want Sharp to stay permanently

Nottingham Forest are keen to make Billy Sharp’s loan move permanent when the transfer window opens.

The striker moved to the City Ground in August on loan for the season and has scored six times since his arrival at the Championship side.

Forest boss Sean O’Driscoll has admitted he would like to agree a deal for the 26-year-old, right, next month if he can.

“Everything has a price. But it is whether Southampton want to sell,” said the man who was in charge at Doncaster when Sharp was signed.

“I am not sure, because we have not had that conversation.

“I’m not sure there are any fans in the country who don’t like Billy Sharp."

IMHO: Bring Sharp back and let him have a crack at the PL with Saints. I think he is the kinda of impact striker that we need at the moment to pinch a goal late on (JRod is a long term prospect, Mayuka isnt getting a crack anyway)

Surely we could use some variety up front and his 'locker room' personality seems to galvanise the players too!

bring back billy sharp, we need the different options to stay in the prem, not a gully basher but im sure billy offers a better option than gully for us. well done saints its been tough so far but i would have settled for our positin at crimbo compared to october. u t s

I'm not 100% sure but I think the rules are that you can't recall a player loaned out for the whole season.

I don't know why we spent all that time, effort and money chasing and signing Sharp, only to spend a lot more time effort and money chasing and signing Rodriguez, only to (I presume) spend a lot more itme, effort and money to sign Mayuka, only to play Mayuka on Saturday, who from where I'm sat seems to be the worst of the 3.

BRING BACK BILLY SHARP

What does Billy want?, if he wants to stay then he should but surley he wants a crack at the prem with us, but only if he has kept himself fit as he carried a bit of weight last season

Ummm.... Billy or J-Rod....???
J-Rod has been awful, can't think of any game where he has played well.
Billy (our top scorer in pre-season) has scored a few at Forest and I am sure he would have knocked in a couple for us by now.
I would have loved to see Billy come on with 20 mins left against Sunderland rather than Guly (not slating Guly but he is not a game changer)
God Jul fra Norge!!!!

My main gripe with our attack is our failiure to simply bang the ball in the net when we have it in the opposition's box.

Either we arn't creating the space, or we are lacking the simplicity of a natural goal poacher.

I'd have Billy back right now if I could.

He came to us and did well and had a great pre season. He's done well for Forest so they better not think they're getting him cheap. I see absolutely no reason why he would have gone down in value.

I'm with everyone else, bring him back, we messed him about enough. I think the comment of 'I,m not sure there are any fans in the country who don't like Billy Sharp' is absolutely spot on. He is a Roy of the Rovers type character that represents everything good about the game, I think he deserves his chance to show that he can poach goals in the premier league.

We need to hold on to him. If we do then get relegated and the top names leave he can slot back in and get us back up

thing is nigel said billy maybe on the bench alot .and billy said he did not want to earn is money sat down .he deserves credit for that ,is mayuka rodriguez better than him .its debatable .but his 11 goals last season .had a huge say in promottion .i would bring him back .try him .but its up to billy and nigel ,nigel had him at scunny as well .but for jay as been disapointing at this level .but he did score 30 goals last season .i did wonder if nigel got incase lambert went as back up.i still think thats the case.playing both dont seem to work

Letting Billy go after the pre - season that he had was one of the most confusing decisions of the new regime, and to replace him it seems with Mayuka, I would like, l feel in common with most Saints fans for the person responsible for this totally irrational decision to come forward and explain their reasons.
Don't hold your breath though the secret society will not allow it LOL

I haven't any inside information, but consider this. Billy and his wife have just had a healthy baby boy. She could have only known she was pregnant end of March/April. At the end of the season, given the tragedy of her first born, perhaps she wanted to be back with her parents at the time of the birth. Most women do.
The speculation on whether he would have played regularly, or sat on the bench may have influenced his decision. It would be nice if someone at the Club could inform people.
On the subject of Jay Rod. I posted on this site before he was bought, voicing my concern. He did NOT score 30 goals in the season he played for Burnley.
He scored 15. about 6 of which were in cup games. he was also Burnleys penalty taker. I think 3 of his 15 were penalties. Charlie Austin would have been a better gamble and cheaper

This Christmas will obviously be an emotional time in the Sharp household, so (especially as a couple of alleged Pompey "fans" disgraced themselves on Twotter last year): MERRY CHRISTMAS from Portsmouth to Billy, Jade and Leo, and the memory of Luey.

And the goal you scored against us last year? Well we'll barrack you about that next time you play against us!!

PS I don't have a Twitter account, so if someone could relay the previous message to Billy I'd appreciate that.
