Got some special long-lasting adhesive coated chopsticks which you can easily hold a whole spring roll in with no fear of dropping it; a big snow man mould (just pack the snow in and separate the two halves and you've got a perfect snow man); a pair of "sock-ets" which are socks with little pockets in them for small change/car keys etc - and a pack of "Kelvin Davis SureStopper" condoms from the club shop.

Dubious? Were you watching? The only query is whether Baird, while he was deliberately palming the ball away, could have had a foul given his way; not because there was a foul but because defenders usually get so much more protection than forwards.

As for the game and the performance, heaving missed the first half, it's hard for me to comment. However, had we not got something (and we nearly didn't), I would have been worried. Fulham looked a total mess. Even worse than they were at SMS, and I thought they looked pants that day.

If we can't finish above them (and at lest 4 others), it won't say much for us.

Still, let's take the point and hope we play somewhat better in the next 2 games - we'll need to.

You need a dose of reality and a little more patience.
Two promotions and you think we should be setting the world alight.
Ever heard of continuity? Most team's primary goal in this league is survival followed by the compilation of a squad to make that goal easier year on year.
Adkins and the board have had a single transfer window - what are you expecting? You talk about potential, but you want it instantly; don't be so naive.
Two seasons ago league 1 after being on the brink of extinction; be thankful that you're watching us play against Man U et al instead of teams like Crawley, Bournemouth and Accrington Stanley.

I'm very concerned at this rate Saints are going one way - down. I hope I'm wrong. Cortèse needs to spend in January!

People also on here complaining about where is the attacking flair we showed in the first few games?...
We can't have it all ways.. If you are at the bottom end of the table and playing away from home you need to not concede goals and grind out results. Open up and play with attacking flair and we get caught on the break and concede.
I'll take 1 - 1, that's a result.

It's always good to read comments from fans who were at the match. I assume the tube strike did go ahead, didn't it? So, yes, well done to you and all the travelling fans who made it there today. You could be heard loud and clear on the Internet link.

How were the conditions? They looked awful; maybe that played a part today, no?

Can't agree with your player assessments, though. I watched only the second half, but Fonte and Yoshida looked very solid and Spiderman and Cork ran the second half. Shaw looked poor today but he's allowed an off day, just as anyone is.

My bigger gripe today would be that we didn't seem to be able to penetrate a very poor Fulham defence with more telling effect.

I also thought Nigel should have changed things earlier but, in the end, it's a point in London. My guess is, earlier in the seaosn, we would have been 2 or 3 down before the penalty. So, let's at least take that as a sign of progress, eh?

On a positive note.....other than the fans being excellent, which they are normally at every away game, especially in London, we did get point and the skunts got beat and I had cold meat and mash etc.

Ever heard of continuity? Most team's primary goal in this league is survival followed by the compilation of a squad to make that goal easier year on year.
Adkins and the board have had a single transfer window - what are you expecting? You talk about potential, but you want it instantly; don't be so naive.
Two seasons ago league 1 after being on the brink of extinction; be thankful that you're watching us play against Man U et al instead of teams like Crawley, Bournemouth and Accrington Stanley.

After all, least we forget, we've come rapidly through the leagues, it's our first year back in the Prem, and new (hopefully better) players are slowly being added and are being bedded in.

It takes time but the signs are, over all, very good.

what nonsense. I am pleased you have an idea and opinion on what is going on, but to slate everything every player is doing, plus the subs, and the formation, and the supposed politics.....cheer up Ebeneezer, we have to realise where we are in the evolution of this club, you cannot sign 12 new players and expect the club to have continuity, so we sign 4/5 and hope they gel and the others grow into the league.

Make no mistake, the aim this year is to survive. Nothing more. Build in January, build further in the summer, turn over the squad in a sensible period of time and continue to bring on the youth prospects. This plan has been outlined numerous times, by NA, by NC, and by most sensible Saints fans. So to expect something different is the sign of someone a little out of touch with the club.....COYR

Look at it a bit deeper, we lost possession too easily, Shaw didn't prevent the cross, the ball was greasy and not catchable, it fell fortunately to a very good finisher, Fonte was dozing and could have got a block in, it wasn't just KDs mistake, it was a lot more than that.

I would play Gazza, predominantly because his extra height would be useful against "tall" if he plays, not Davis because GHK doesn't rate him and he knows everything there is to know about football, pass me a stamp and I'll scribble what I know about football on it.

basic marking errors at the back make us vulnerable to cross and shot especially as Kelv won't come out. that's two in two games easy goals unmarked strikers standing outside box in front of the left post.

Up front there is no one crossing or delivering the ball to Rickie and Rickie is way to slow to get onto loose ball or make gaps on his own at this level.

The quick little passing isn't getting through and isn't likely to. Even with Aguera Tevez Ba or Van Persie you still have to bang the ball in front of them for them to bang it in. We are not doing it for Rickie... but have to say Rickie was rarely in position to receive it he was off fluffing around in the wings or trying to be a midfielder. Tell me I'm wrong.. honestly.

Look at it a bit deeper, we lost possession too easily, Shaw didn't prevent the cross, the ball was greasy and not catchable, it fell fortunately to a very good finisher, Fonte was dozing and could have got a block in, it wasn't just KDs mistake, it was a lot more than that.

I'm with Osprey on this one. It's not that Kelv covered himself in glory, he made an error, but the point Osprey is correctly making is that others around him contributed to the goal.

whats done is done we have move on but the defence have to stop the easy cross and have to mark their strikers.. That is pretty basic. It is like a bowlers outswinger or quick ball.. once a game gets the result. we just have to learn to pick it and counter.

If he had worked on strengthening the back a bit more we wouldn't have looked so susceptible to shipping soft goals. Credit where it's due, Clyne was a really good signing, but why not buy Butland and a decent CB and LB. Shaw is brilliant, but young. Also, an out & out ball winner in the middle of the park, would have been desirable.

We had the basis of a good team, but why did he spend so much on attacking players, Sharp, Jrod, Lee, Mayuka and Ramírez, whilst neglecting the back!

And the slow, predictable way he's got the team playing, has held us back from building on this "excellent opportunity". Concrete enough?

I think you've answered your own questions....... Shaw, lallana, clyne, cork, Ramirez, lambert, puncheon jwp, spiderman are probably all premier league class players be it some are in experienced. We just need to tinker in the transfer window.
Adkins has made a lot of mistakes IMO both tactically and financially but is it any good chopping and changing managers, he deserves this window at least to get things right. Qpr I seem to remember when promoted bought in almost a new squad and reportedly have no team spirit and look where they are.
Do agree we need to up the tempo to our play and have urgency, lallana has that and is missed. Take gerrard out of the liverpool team and you have the same.

I dont know what the answer is now but I think that more tinkering might not help, it could make things worse.
I still believe we had a winning team and pulled it apart somehow, you can say they were not good enough for the prem but they were a team.
30 mill has been spent, on what? You cant see it. Yes we should have spent big on 1 goalie, but I still think Boruc could have a a part to play with his experience, he is fiery so what and a top central defender or 2.
At the moment we dont need a midfield because we keep punting it up, why cant we keep posession?
Still think we will stay up though, but it will have to be seen if Adkins survives Jan, sorry to say it.

I think you've answered your own questions....... Shaw, lallana, clyne, cork, Ramirez, lambert, puncheon jwp, spiderman are probably all premier league class players be it some are in experienced. We just need to tinker in the transfer window.

If he had worked on strengthening the back a bit more we wouldn't have looked so susceptible to shipping soft goals. Credit where it's due, Clyne was a really good signing, but why not buy Butland and a decent CB and LB. Shaw is brilliant, but young. Also, an out & out ball winner in the middle of the park, would have been desirable.

We had the basis of a good team, but why did he spend so much on attacking players, Sharp, Jrod, Lee, Mayuka and Ramírez, whilst neglecting the back!

And the slow, predictable way he's got the team playing, has held us back from building on this "excellent opportunity". Concrete enough?

As an opinion it is concrete enough, but some of us have a different view on it, that is our perogative, JRod was bought for the future, not the present, it was obvious from the rumour threads, that we were after a number of players, which for whatever reason didn't come to fruition, you say we already had Cork, Lallana and Lambert so we didn't need anyone else, have you forgotten that all three have been injured at some stage of the first half of the Season and it was when all three were playing that the results improved. Sorry I am not convinced that Butland is worth the ludicrous fee being demanded. We have another excellent opportunity in January to put things right, but I don't want to see good money spent on Prima Donnas that will upset the Dressing Room, you only have to look at QPR to see where that can go badly wrong. J Rod was one of the Championship players of the season. He will come good. Some of our signings are definitely better than what we had . Clyne was also one of the best in the Championship. I believe that NC and NA realise the difficult task we have in keeping Prem status after 2 consecutive promotions. Perhaps they are clever enough to realise that we might get relegated and have a team in place to get us straight back should the worst happen. Nigel was not at fault for not strengthening at the back. That was down to NC and we all know there were names in the frame that didn't happen. Given the ruthless nature of our chairman perhaps even he realises where the fault lay and that is why NA is still with us. Don't ever forget, however, that it is almost wholly down to NC for us being where we are today. He hasn't let us down yet and even he is allowed an odd mistake. He is also ruthless enough to refuse to let any of our better players go if he thinks we need to keep them.Anyway we arn't down yet. 2 or three good results on the bounce and we'll all be a lot happier. Villa are struggling, Fulham no great shakes, Wigan are due a relegation, so we live in hope. We have managed to get to the transfer window and are still in with a good chance of staying up. Actually you seem to be avoiding the questions, which were 'Could you be more concrete about this 'excellent opportunity' that you refer to? Who, for example?'

Who should we have bought? Who did we have the opportunity to buy but didn't? Apart from Butland, who plays for a team that is 6th from bottom of the Championship and has conceded 38 goals, you haven't really made much of an effort too answer the questions. What you have given us is an appraisal of the players we bought and the players we already have.

That said, it is clear, even to a happy clapper like me, that not all our signings have been instant successes and that we are not playing as effectively as we were earlier in the season.

Who should we have bought? Who did we have the opportunity to buy but didn't? Somehow I think there are a few reasons for this, tactical changes call for different methods, good (experienced) Premier Managers spend a lot of time watching vids of their next opposition and adjust their team and tactics to match as best as they can using the squad that they have. Weather conditions, in particular the last couple of weeks have had a major effect on how to use the ball to do the work. No good playing fast tippy tappy when the ball is getting stuck on a sodden pitch. Long balls are no use if the wind and rain are swirling around making it impossible to control. Come Spring and Summer with warm dry days and a perfect pitch we will see the best of Ramirez and co. who will make the ball do the work. Something to look forward to.

I'm not sure it's a matter of running rather than learning to walk. I see it as more a process of trial and error. You try and learn from your successes and you failures. The evidence, as I see it is that we are learning. Isn't that a huge positive.

Lallana could be back v Stoke, more likely Arsenal. Spoke to him after the match on his way to his car, and he said his knee was good. Why are you saying otherwise?

We already had players like, Cork, Lallana, Lambert. So why spend 7mill on Jrod? He will be offloaded & we will lose out financially on him. And Mayuka, I'm not sold on him.

If he had worked on strengthening the back a bit more we wouldn't have looked so susceptible to shipping soft goals. Credit where it's due, Clyne was a really good signing, but why not buy Butland and a decent CB and LB. Shaw is brilliant, but young. Also, an out & out ball winner in the middle of the park, would have been desirable.

We had the basis of a good team, but why did he spend so much on attacking players, Sharp, Jrod, Lee, Mayuka and Ramírez, whilst neglecting the back!

And the slow, predictable way he's got the team playing, has held us back from building on this "excellent opportunity". Concrete enough?

Who should we have bought? Who did we have the opportunity to buy but didn't? Apart from Butland, who plays for a team that is 6th from bottom of the Championship and has conceded 38 goals, you haven't really made much of an effort too answer the questions. What you have given us is an appraisal of the players we bought and the players we already have.

That said, it is clear, even to a happy clapper like me, that not all our signings have been instant successes and that we are not playing as effectively as we were earlier in the season.

Butland, I stand by, future England keeper. Give him time. But if you don't like him, how about Jason Steele? Let me guess, you're looking for a full international!

A player in the vain of Martín Demichelis, experienced tough defender playing for Malaga. Getting him would have been a stretch, but for a while there was talk of him maybe leaving. There are loads of players plying their trade in Europe, who are obviously good enough, but seeing that they might end up in the Championship, wouldn't sign now.

I wanted us to buy Ryan Bennett last year. We missed the boat on that.

Mark Hudson, Cardiff, experienced and having a good season. Should be able to get him cheap.

Thomas Ince. Absolute class, he'd create havoc for oppositions.

Wilfried Zaha, a striker who can also operate as a winger.

Btw, NA get's paid the big bucks to buy players, as well as a scouting system to aid him. Both you and I don't. So what's his excuse? And please answer the question?

I'm not sure it's a matter of running rather than learning to walk. I see it as more a process of trial and error. You try and learn from your successes and you failures. The evidence, as I see it is that we are learning. Isn't that a huge positive.
