Yeah - NIGEL was right to drop Kelvin.

Great servant but not good enough to keep Saints in Premier League.

Boruc was nervy but he settled and at least when there was a shot in the 70th minute he held on to it. His distribution improved as the game went on.

IF WE GET A TOP KEEPER IN JANUARY - IT WILL NOT BE MONEY WASTED AND WILL HELP TO MOVE US UP THE PREMIER LEAGUE.

No he wasn't, Boruc's fumbles were worse than any thing I've seen Kelv do this season. Gazza the same. Kelv is the best of what we currently have available. Totally agree it's time to buy a proper one though.

None of the Keepers on present showing are good enough for this League.

They have cost us valuable points where we should be higher up the League with Wet Spam.

Regarding the Cup - the Players do well when playing regularly - so I would put out a strong side. A morale boosting WIN would give the whole Club a lift.

That said - whose UP for VILLA AWAY and getting the WIN ....??

I was disappointed with FULHAM AWAY (apart from Kelvins Howler) that with the Tube Strike all the Saints Supporters had to go by road and that spoiled the pre-match pubs and drinking and build up to getting to the Stadium.

Artur Borac did not look that good early on in the game yesterday - but for me the jury is out - he is very calm.

There are multi millions involved with staying in the Premer League and to invest even 10 million has gotta be worth it.

This is an area we cannot skimp on. it reminds me of Wenger all those years ago when he would not invest in Quality and it cost him and the Club.

Watched the Arsenal Keeper yesterday and how the goal keeping coach drilled him yesterday and the intensity of it all - and then despaired to see how we do it.

Great game last night and unlucky not to take all three points. I went home and watched the game again and could not see much wrong with Rambo's second goal. Yoshida was kick up the painfull area from behind which should of been a penalty. Guly had to go for the ball from Theo's free kick or a certain goal would of been scored by the Arse player. Thought Boruc could have positioned himself better for the kick. Can not understand why some fans keep having a go at Guly , that guy gave our club110% in the last two games.
I think it was there for all to see just how far we have improved as a team since the start of the season. Everybody including Nigel has learnt from their mistakes at the begining and deserves a pat on the back for that.

So Nicola if you want yours and our dreams to come true, get the cheque book out and get down to the shops and buy that mink coat and not the cheap imatation.

I didn't judge Boruc's performance on the 1st 10 minutes, I said Arsenal had one shot on target all game, which Boruc fumbled, I believe that shot was on 72 minutes, if he was peppered with shots all game I believe the result would have a been different simply because he looks unfit (carrying a few extra pounds around the middle) as a professional footballer playing the EPL you cannot afford to be nervous, stalling your car after not driving for 20 years, isn't going to cost you millions of pounds, having a nervous keeper will, I think the young lad Gazza is the future number 1, however I don't think he's quite ready, therefore I think we need to delve into transfer market and buy a keeper before the end of the window.

Why do you say we dont need a striker. I reckon we do.

Mayuka is Africa Cup tied and if Ricki gets injured all we have is J Rod.

Cudicini has just left, Friedel is potentially available, Sorensen, Given, Westwood, Gomez, maybe the Arsenal keeper that filled in on loan, and that's just at first glance. Sure there are plenty in the Championship and Europe as well.

The only top 10 team that has gone for an inexperienced keeper is Man Utd, but the jury is out on both their options.

There are less than a handful of Prem teams to give youth or inexperience a chance in goal and for good reason IMO.

Maybe we should spend money on coaching the goalkeepers as we have 4 already!
Alternatively, a bit more depth in defense so that our GKs are largely untroubled as was the case yesterday.
Not keen on spending loads on Butland, he is young, inexperienced and expensive!
I'm just brainboxing here as I don't know what the answer is and would rather money was spent in other areas.

Agree with you about Ramirez's 'goal', Oldboy, but it WAS the same Arsenal that turned up. The fact is, it WASN'T that Newcastle team they played but a very good, well-organised and well-managed Saints team.

No disrespects to Pards, but THIS was the week when we should all be grateful that we now have the better of the two managers. Those who have doubted him on here should not only be ashamed but should be back on here admitting their mistake.

Bill, I am not sure that we can afford to give our current keepers a chance. our defence has improved dramatically with the inclusion of young Luke Shaw and Corky. All the hard work done shoring up a leaky defence is being undone by dodgy keepers. I know it is the easy option just to go out and spend money on solving a problem. but can we really afford not to. our upturn in results lately must not be jeopardised hoping that what we already have comes good. on that analogy why would we buy anyone???.......just sit back and have blind faith that what we have will eventually come good. It is of course even more important this season to ensure that we stay in the premiership as the financial rewards are greatly increased next season. We have played well enough lately to make me believe that we will be safe, but why take that chance. lets really build a good enough squad now and have an even greater push next season.

Wielding the chequebook is not necessarily gonna change anything. Let's face facts...we are in a struggle this season and no matter who we sign in a No1 shirt is going to have to deal with a few nervy situations...and potentially deal with a nervous crowd behind him.

I was there (as was Slugger) and I saw that after the first four touches or so (which I'll agree were abysmal) he stopped making handling or judgment mistakes.

The crowd (including me) were expecting it but he didn't mess up again. His kicking, I'll agree, was poor, but that was all.

You may have seen things I missed but I really didn't see errors after the start.

(I come to this really, genuinely, thinkig that he was a grade one divot the last time I saw him, so I've taken some convincing). As I said, I think NA will give him a game or three and we'll see.

Valleity, you are right there were not any real obvious errors after the first few touches. there was a problem however with the defence playing it to his right side and him then taking an extra touch to get it on his left resulting in the oppositions forwards closing him down far too close for comfort. as I said in my original post his distribution from his hands was great.............bu

t his general kicking was very poor and for me he did not fill me with confidence. I always seemed to be waiting with baited breath everytime the ball was played to him. what we could really do with is a keeper with the shot stopping skill of KD, the kicking distribution of Gazza and the hand distribution of Boruc after all they all have their plus points but none of them are the complete article

Steve...there wasn't a Saints fan in SMS who wasn't looking at our keeper with a critical eye last night.
The issue is whether Boruc can improve...or do we potentially gamble on a keeper who can instantly settle in and provide us with a composed performance. My point is that I don't believe that an incoming keeper (within our price range) will make any significant difference.

on the contrary I think NA was having another look in a competitive match before making his mind up on buying a replacement. I think last night has now convinced NA to ask NC to get the cheque book out. For the record Kent is atwat and not worth bothering with

Me too! even when he messed up there was a peculier confidence in himself that he would get it right....remember all goalies are mad..they have to be, to be any good.
