MORE people than ever have worked over the Christmas period this year.

As many of us have relaxed, there have been thousands of workers who have had to go to work. From ambulance staff, care home workers, petrol station staff, pub staff to coastguards and so on, they have all been to work either to keep us safe or to ensure we all had a happy Christmas.

I would personally thank these wonderful people for giving up their Christmas for us. You have to remember that these people could not spend time with their families, but had to work the frontline.

In fact, according to the TUC, the number of people who work on Christmas Day has increased by a staggering 78 per cent over the past ten years.

We must thank these people for the good work they do and for helping to make our Christmas.

Please remember that while you relax, enjoy yourselves and wind down, these people have been hard at work.

Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year to all!
