Luke likely to miss Saints' Chelsea trip

Luke Shaw looks like missing out on a dream appearance at Stamford Bridge after badly gashing his knee at Aston Villa.
The 17-year-old left back, who last week committed his long term future to Saints, was stretchered off towards the end of the 1-0 victory at Villa Park.
After the game Nigel Adkins confirmed the gash to Shaw’s right knee was a bad one.
That is likely to mean a short spell on the sidelines for the boyhood Chelsea fan.
“He’s got a very badly gashed right knee which is quite swollen,” reported Adkins, who has Danny Fox on stand-by to deputise.
“There are also quite a lot of scars on his left knee where the challenge was.
“We’ve got an excellent medical department and we will see what the diagnosis is.
“We’d like to think it’s nothing more than a very heavy challenge but we will wait and see.
“It’s quite a big blow he took to his knee.”

The Villa players and the crowd were just angry that it looked like time wasting when in fact it was serious. I take my hat off to the referee for not buckling under presure.
And the dirty villa players gave the Ref some much Sh-t for stopping play when Luke was hurt. Would have be different if the boot was on the other foot. The Ref should have book those villa's players they must of seen his injury.

Running out of players. Still, best it happens against a team that are likely to beat them anyway.

Villa players were disgraceful when he went down making out he was feigning injury. Villa fans also need to take a look at themselves by giving him stick and booing. Even when he was being stretchered passed them noone even clapped.

None more so that the flying tackle that their right back did on Steeeeeev.
It was 2 footed and off the ground.
If Steeeeev hadn't jumped he would have been in hospital.
Credit the ref he allowed the game to flow but there are times to show the cards.

At no time, after the incident, did Cottee have the decency or character to acknowledge that, on this occasion he had called it wrong, and that Shaw had left the field on a stretcher.
Come on Cortese, he has disrespected your team.
