Bring some players in Saints! we need 5/6 players to give us that depth and weve only got 2 weeks to do it in! if we dont then a couple of injuries and we will go down! what are they playing at!?!

Logic and results say that NA and NC must be aware that we are now light on Central Defenders and a deal or two will have been done. If not, we can only assume that incoming players are as good as in the books. History shows that there is "many a slip" so I really hope there is hard news on signings soon.
Recent injuries have exposed our frailties in cover in some areas.

Whereas I was thinking Forren news had gone very quiet so I suspect deal is off. I'm concerned that we are so slow in bringing players in 17 days and no action completed. How difficult is it ?? Find player > bid for player > get bid accepted or negotiate >> negotiate terms with player > complete deal. Surely the find player and bids should have been done by now. In my humble opinion this is where Adkins needs to improve. I perceive the problem to be this "recruitment department" would be nice to see a programme article explaining how they work and what their remit is.

not that easy UWWB, I am sure they are at it balls out but we are not a top team to come to..... yet!

To be mature and answer your question Obviously I don't have an idea about how the recruitment department work. So if you are somehow more enlightened than approximately 30,000 Saints fans I'd be interested in your immense knowledge and wisdom.

Maybe Forren is on hold while they try and sign Astori?

Whilst I fully accept that NC appears to keep his cards very close to his chest during his transfer negotiations it has to be said the Forren situation has gone very quiet. With just 14 days to go getting the rght player(s) for the right price will become increasingly difficult.

By the time you read this Saints will have made their first signing of the January transfer window with the capture of Norwegian central defender Vegard Forren.
He arrives on the South Coast with a growing reputation as one of the best defensive prospects in Europe having captained Molde to the Norwegian title, a feat that saw him crowed the Tippeligaen's player of the year, and performed well on the European and international stages.
On the pitch Forren should be well suited to Nigel Adkins' style if play as he's comfortable in possession and has a good range of passing. He is predominantly left-footed so should be able to slot in to the left-hand-side of central defence, his preferred side, as both Maya Yoshida and Jose are right-footed. He's said to read the game well and also have the physicality to deal with the Premier League
Forren also comes with a glowing reference from Claus Lundekvam, a fellow Norwegian and one of many Scandinavians to have donned a Southampton shirt in recent years. Lundekvam made over 400 appearances for Saints and captained the side for many of them, both in the Premier League and Championship. While recent revelations about drug addiction and alleged match-fixing have angered some fans, his service to the club cannot be forgotten.
Lundekvam represents the top end of Saints' Scandinavian signings, including Finns in that definition, along with the likes of Anders and Michael Svensson, Egil Ostenstad, Anti Niemi and Jo Tessem. There have been less specular ones such as Alexander 'Jesus' Ostlund, whose defending was often far from divine, and striker Stig Johansen who was as big a flop any of Shefki Kuqi's goal celebrations.
Whether or not Forren turns out to be a Lundekvam or an Ostlund remains to be seen, but he certainly appears to have the tools necessary to be a success. It could be the start of another special career for a Scandinavian at St. Mary's.

According to the local paper in Molde yesterday, the Forren deal is pretty much a done deal, but was put on hold till after the Chelsea match yesterday. So maybe there will be some news tomorrow.

I'm hearing that it will be announced tomorrow...not sure why I'm getting excited...I know nothing about Forren at all.
If NA likes him though...then so do I!
