I thought Adkins was a great fit for Saints playing some of the best football I have seen since the Eighties.
Thanks for the memories Nigel.
Hoping this doesn't derail our survival.

I should think they in a state of physical and emotional shock and will do well to get their act together on Monday.
Unlike Cortese, a vast number of supporters have a deep knowledge and experience of both football and of management. Cortese has just about broken every rule in the book - were it not Saints who would be affected I wish he would live to rue his day of colossal misjudgement.

Great understatement by Luke Shaw. They have worked with a manager, who with the players, achieved back to back promos - and how many managers have done that? - and then started to come good in the Premiership - and who was responsible for not stiffening our defence in the summer.

The clue may have been in that comment.
With the new guy having an international pedigree, can we now expect quicker and higher quality transfers?
Good luck and thankyou, Nigel.

It was no easy job when he took on the job back in Division One. He did better than many Managers could have done.
BIG BIG MISTAKE!! to get rid of him.
Good Luck Nigel in your next club. They will be lucky to get you.

I think it's a disgrace the way he's been treated and both the chairman and new manager have been underhanded in the way they've gone about it. From a bad start NA was pulling you back up,I hope you stay up this year, and this combo of clowns haven't done real damage. Mind you I wonder how long this one will stay if he's already lost the team - I know they're pros but I bet they're feeling as gutted as the fans right now.

As for the crap being posted about Nicola Cortese - it means nothing.
Trouble with slagging is it bites you in the backside when you are wrong. We saw lots slagging when Pards got the chop. Saints have come a long way since then. 80% objected to the sacking and lots had a go at Nicola Cortese then. http://www.dailyecho

a few later 60% supported Nigel and he grew and grew on us.. 3 weeks into the prem the usual suspects were slagging they had just been shut up by a recent good run but you can bet the wheels were in motion before that (and Nigel seemed to know it)
Just 10 or so weeks ago lots wants Nigel gone though the poll said about 80% wanted him to stay but most posted they wanted him to stay because no one had an alternative.

As you say no man is bigger than the Club and that includes Nicola, he is a man on a mission, but has that clouded his judgement? Only time and results will tell. As always the fans are the last to know what goes on within the walls of the Club, conspiracy theorists will have a field day, but 99% will be wrong as we simply don't know. As a supporter I have always asked for detailed information from the Club because I think we are entitled to be told, being the ones supplying so much of the cash needed for the Club to survive, no doubt early doors this guy will tell us less than Nigel, but only because of the language problem. It won't take much to tell us more!

I'm sure NC will deliver the club that fans like magnette are after, but I don't know whether it'll be the same club that we all grew up supporting. There's more to following a club than what league you play in...
NC and the Liebherrs have poured millions into a bankrupt club. That allowed the purchase of players from above the team's lowly status, attracted by the money on offer and the investment in facilities. For 2 seasons NC and the Liebherrs purchased a team that were a league better than the league they were in and it was less than a surprise when they were promoted. Now they are in the PL they cannot do that because half the teams are richer and more supported than Saints. So success can only be achieved by great management and temporary over investment. NC has still poured money into the club as a temporary investment but the results have been devastatingly bad because Adkins was unable to manage the team properly. The results speak for themselves: they are 3 points off relegation, their recent mediocre run of form is largely due to playing the lower teams. Their defence is a joke, nearly the worst there is. Everyone is nearly always out of position and they have let in 40 goals. Adkins has had a fortune to spend and that's what he has achieved. It must always be remembered that Cortese has to run the club successfully in the PL or he is out as well, and fans must remember that if he fails the Liebherrs will probably sell. If we want a club in Europe and the top six in the Premier League then we support NC. Next you can go to St Marys and watch Everton, Manchester Utd and City: without NC and the Liebherrs it would be Brentford, Bury and Crawley.
