Pochettino not upset at missing out on Coutinho
3:11pm Tuesday 29th January 2013 in Sport
Philippe Coutinho
Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino says he is not frustrated that the club have missed out on signing Inter Milan playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
Pochettino had the 20-year-old Brazilian on loan at Espanyol last season, and Coutinho was linked with a move to St Mary’s this month.
However, the Inter star is now on the verge of completing a switch to Liverpool.
New Saints boss Pochettino admitted there had been a chance of signing the player, but said it was always an outside shot.
“I am not frustrated about not being able to sign him,” he said. “I knew there was a small chance he would come here, but overall I have not had much time to consider new signings,” he said.
“I am very happy with the squad which is available to me.
“We all know who Coutinho is, and that he is a quality player. However, there are other factors when we want to sign a player.”

Id prefer to get some depth in the squad but I did say 3 weeks back that we would only sign or loan in one CB.
Looks like I might unfortunately be right.

Before the window we all thought a centre back and maybe a new goalie were the must-haves. Well, we've signed a new centre back and Boruc has remembered how to be be a goalkeeper, so we no longer need a new one.

A lot of people criticised Nicola Cortese for his lack of communication with suppporters. Not as good as a fan's forum, but at least he gave an Interview to address those views.
A lot of people have cirticised the Daily Echo for it's negative reporting. They have not done anything to answer or reply to this. No forum. No reply to posts. No fans meeting. No nothing. They continue to print the same old negative b/s article after article after article. It is the Echo way or the highway.
Before anybody tells me to go elsewhere, I only have one local paper who report on my team... and all I am asking them to do is act a little more responsibly or explain themselves to the fans who are continually confused/upset by what they read. Why should all fans who are unhappy with the Echo's performance have to find another paper when there is no real alternative.
The DE ivory tower approach and the destructive approach to the club and local community which is the effect is bad as anything I have witnessed from Nicola Cortese. While you love throwing stones you too have something to answer for. At least Cortese attempted to bridge the gap.
When is the Daily Echo going to start to be answerable for it's own atrocious not unbiased behaviour and contribute rather than hinder the healing process.

This is a fact, like it or not. The same journalist stated that NA heard about getting the sack from TV reports of his story. He was not lying in the morning so I have reason to think he was lying at all..... seeing as I heard of Nigel's sacking on TV myself on Spanish TV about two hours before Saints announced it, its reasonable to me that he too found out that way...

A thought from the terraces (Adam Leitch Style):

MGRA wrote:Well according to SAF in his interview he says that Nigel contacted him the day before he was sacked and they discussed what was going on at the club. Read into that what you will but personallty, I think it highly unlikely that NA knew nothing and gave many a hint in his interviews.
saintshorse101 wrote:I just said it was reported as fact by the only person who broke the story accurately that morning. So for me I have no reason to treat him as a liar....No one has officially contradicted his statement.... so if its a lie, no one has stated that as so.
OSPREYSAINT wrote:not picking holes in your story mgra but it has been reported by many news organisations that all the sfc bigwigs were called into sms at 7 am on the friday and that the MP rumours had been going `mad` on the thursday evening. so it is possible, however much you want to believe it or not, that NA new he was going before it was on the tv. i dont know and you dont know the only person or people who do are keeping quiet about the whole issue. what i do know is that as it stands you are 50/50 on your exclusives, so as i said you might be right but you might be wrong. however for all our sakes stop bringing it up as fact until you are proven either way. we have all said to a man that, agree or not with NA`s sacking, the way the whole affair happened left a sour taste in the mouth. NA should have been treated better than what we have seen, but again we dont know whats been said or gone on behind closed doors. let it drop for now and when/if the truth does come out there will be enough people on here who will remember what has been said and by whom.

The Argentine's name might well be Italian in origin (loads of them are) but will have a Spanish pronunciation, not an Italian one, as is the case here. If it was an Italian pronunciation, it would sound like Pokketeeno. Which it doesn't. So there!
St. Redford asks about the pronunciation of Porchettino.
Altough he's Spanish speaking the name is Italian origin (you don't get a double tt in Spanish.
The ch is like the ch of church (St Mary's of course! Phonetical pronunciation is the name is:
