United boss won't take Saints for granted

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to recall the Premier League’s top scorer, Robin van Persie, for tonight’s visit of Saints.

The Dutchman was an unused substitute in United’s comfortable 4-1 home victory over Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday, but is expected to be back in the starting line-up this evening.

The addition of the former Arsenal striker last summer, in a deal worth £24m, has helped Ferguson assemble the most potent attack in the division.

United’s top three scorers this term – Van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney – have accounted for 33 of their 57 league goals.

Ferguson, who is also set to bring centre backs Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand back into the side, insists he will not be taking Saints for granted.

Anyone would think that the Daily Echo was based in Manchester. It really needs to sort out its relationship with Saints and promise Cortese sustained accurate reporting in return for a return to the club.

Rickie had Vidic for breakfast in the first match.. Saints won't take 3pts for granted but won't be over awed by the plastic fantastics at old troughfud. How is the Grazer debt going.. must be pretty bad when they employ pensioners to manage.

Ok Robbing van Persil did all right after his pen fluff and our lot fell apart for a bit... hope fully we'll go up and hold them this time.

Can't see us getting much tonight, after City's no show last night United will be desperate to extend their lead.

Live in hope though!

Fergie is the greatest manager of all time, a pensioner yes bit with so much power he can get at least an extra 2 minutes of time added just by chewing gum in a angry way, his mind games have broken men half his age into total wrecks, playing in front of 70+ thousand manks is quite daunting.

Now this kind of post really disappoints me. You are better than this.

I'll be happy with Saints grinding out another draw tonight against the league leaders. A win would be delightful but I won't bet on that.
Remember - we forced Man U to come from behind to beat us last time. And our team have improved since then.

We froze at Liverpool hope we don't freeze tonight. After tonight the only away side in the top seven we have to play away is spurs.

Looking back on things the fact that the only teams we beat other than Newcastle are below us might be what have lost NA his job.
The lost points in goalkeepers errors against Swansea, Fulham and Norwich lost us six points in recent games and a few poor substitutions may have helped in losing us leads at places like Stoke which were another 2 points.
I believe if we had those eight points NA would possibly still be manager.
Everyone around us has strengthened their squad some considerably this window. We have a useful team but our squad depth is poor.
The transfer window is still open, who knows what will happen.
Realistically we need 7 wins from 15 games and a couple of draws.
MP has been brought in to get those wins IMO.
Will we regret the lack of signings at the end of season?

I wouldn't say everyone has strenthened their squad.

Wigan - Nobody borught in I think
Reading - A few signings but nobody springs to mind imediately
QPR - Remy although they will probably get someone in tomo.
Villa - Nobody
Newcastle - Signings brought in and they will get clear from trouble quite easily imo.
Us - CB that was needed
