Mike Golding has moved into fifth place in the Vendee Globe after overtaking Frenchman Jean Le Cam last night.
The Southampton yachtsman is nearing the end of his third Vendee Globe, approximately 1050 nautical miles from the finish, and overtook his nearest rival last night.
“This has been some of the best sailing, the best racing I have had,£ Golding said.
"I’d love to say I’m enjoying it but to be honest I just want to get in and get finished. I have pretty much run out of everything. I have food left but there are none of the niceties that make it work, however, I have enough calories.
“Our ETA is a bit variable at the moment, depending on how much of a stoppage we get.”
