Olympic champion Dani King has been chosen in the British team for this month’s Track Cycling World Championships, along with Southampton's Jon Dibben.

Hamble rider King joins Laura Trott and Elinor Barker in the women’s endurance squad for the competition, held in Minsk, from February 20-24.

Dibben is included in the men's endurance side.

King and Trott were part of the women’s team pursuit line-up that won gold at London 2012 last summer.

They have also claimed the team pursuit title at the last two world championships and will be favourites to do so again.

Performance director Sir Dave Brailsford said: “The first year of an Olympic cycle is always an interesting one as it gives the opportunity for our young riders to compete alongside the world’s best and experience the competitive environment which is crucial for their development.

“With that in mind, the focus for the team is to perform to the best of their ability as the route to Rio firmly begins.”
