Rickie Lambert
Rickie Lambert wants to stay at Southampton for the rest of his career.
The 30-year-old striker arrived at St Mary's from Bristol Rovers in 2009 and has helped the club rise from League One to the Premier League.
Lambert, who has scored 99 goals for the club, is the highest English scorer in the Premier League this season, leading to reported interest from others.
However, the Liverpudlian has quashed such talk, saying he would like to end his playing days at the south coast club.
"My family are happy here and I am very happy,"said Lambert.
"It has been a special three and a half years and I would love to finish my career at Southampton.
"The club's ambitions are very high. Southampton is going to be an exciting place over the next few years."

Many folks readily conceded when cortese tossed adkins overboard and brough in posh.
I wonder how many will feel the same if Rickie is shown the door in place of an upgrade?
I might lose all faith in we walk away from srl as easily as we seem to have turned our backs on nige.
ANYWAYS... In the spirit of the article, I'm proud of lambo goin on record this way. Sign him up so he can be our elder statesman for the premiership glory years ahead. Like giggs, scholes, lampard et al, only better because he fought through every division of professional football in this country.

Rickie is SFC's best ever player. Le God was right up there, but although he scored some of the most amazing goals I ever did see (and I think holds the record for most number of entrants of goal of the month in one month) he was a bit of a goal hanger and had to have his pockets sewn up to keep his hands out of them. He certainly never had anywhere near the work rate of st Rickie. He is immense and a great role model for kids, mine worships him! sign the man up and give him a Lambo!

My first post.In reply to holbury halo I think SRL is the biggest saints legend for me having supported saints since 1960.The reason I say this is that he always gives 100%,never has a bad game, his presence on the field is so important to the whole team as has been proved time and again since he has been with saints.I would also like to point out without taking anything away from the rest of the team that without his incredible goal scoring achievements in the lower divisions i doubt we would have got back to the premier league so quickly.Sam Allardyce was quoted as saying last season that if he had had SRL in his team that they would have won the championship by March. For me Ricky is the legend

I too would love to see our Rickie spend the rest of his career with us, who knows.
I know times have changed and the game has speeded up, but there have been previous examples of front players with the guile and skill of Rickie who dropped back into midfield in the twilight of their careers.
Mark Hughes springs to mind with us (admittedly he got a little dirty).

Would not be surprised to see him stay, Close to being up with Mick Channon, Ron Davies and MLT and our Terry. Which is no mean feat in itself. No doubt will be sooon right alongside. Definitely favorite player since the Matt hung up his boots. Lol and has tons more dignity and integrity.
