Nearly nine out of 10 town hall employees are suffering from increased work pressures, a trade union survey has revealed.

A poll of more than 14,000 local government workers conducted by Unison found some 87% agreed pressure has increased since 2010 and 72% admitted stress is affecting their performance at work.

Seven out of 10 said workplace stress is harming their personal lives and more than half (53%) have personal debts – with 55% of debtors owing more than £5,000 and 11% more than £20,000.
