LLANDOVERY town councillors are urging Carmarthenshire county council to fence in the Green Lodge play area following reports of tyre tracks.
A concerned resident told the town council it appeared a car had been driven on to the play area which lacks a proper boundary.
Cllr David Rees said the presence of wooden bollards would not prevent a vehicle getting through.
Cllr ElizabethThomas expressed concern that children were being left unprotected and Cllr Jill Blud said the play area was also not dog-proof.
“Perhaps we should fence off the whole area to stop dogs using it as a toilet,” she suggested.
“We want to stop dogs coming in and stop children from getting out,”
commented Cllr Robin Ennion.
Cllr Edgar Jones described seeing a small child “tottering across” the road by the playground.
“The green opposite gives the impression it’s all part of the play area,” he said.
Cllr Helene Lovell felt the entire area could benefit from speed ramps.
“I knowa lot of people don’t like them but they are traffic-calming,” she said.
It was pointed out that play areas at Maesglas and Llandovery Castle both had perimeter fences so councillors will now raise the matter with the county council.
