Saints On This Day - March 3
1951: Saints 1 Cardiff 1 Jack Edwards scored one penalty and missed another as Saints held Division 2 high-fliers Cardiff at The Dell. Edwards netted his spot-kick in the 29th minute before smashing his second effort against the bar in the 52nd. Cardiff levelled just four minutes after the penalty miss.
1956: Watford 1 Saints 0 Goalkeeper Fred Kiernan impressed for Saints as they fell to defeat at Vicarage Road in Division Three (South).
1962: Saints 6 Scunthorpe 4 Saints put on a real show as they beat Scunthorpe at The Dell in an entertaining ten-goal encounter. Despite falling behind early on, Saints raced into a 5-2 lead thanks to goals from Terry Paine, Derek Reeves, George O’Brien, Brian Clifton and Tommy Mulgrew. Paine added a second to fend off a late charge from the Iron.
1964: Swansea 6 Saints 0 Ted Bates praised the Swansea side that thumped his Saints side with a crushing second half performance. The Swans, struggling in Division 2, had only led 1-0 at the break.
1973: Saints 0 Leicester 0 Peter Shilton kept a clean sheet for Leicester on the ground where he was to later play so many games for Saints.
1979: Saints 2 Arsenal 0 Oshor Williams made his League debut for Saints as they enjoyed a comfortable victory at The Dell. Saints took the lead when Austin Hayes fired home before Malcolm Waldron added a second with a sublime header from an Alan Ball free-kick.
1984: Saints 2 Norwich 1 Goals from Dave Armstrong and sub Dave Puckett gave Saints victory over Norwich at The Dell. Armstrong finished the 1983-84 season as top scorer for Saints with 15 League goals.
1990: Saints 2 Chelsea 3 Saints surrendered a two goal advantage as Chelsea scored twice in the final few minutes to snatch victory at The Dell.
Rodney Wallace had scored twice to put Saints in control.
Sammy Lee made his debut for Saints as a substitute.
1992: Saints 1 West Ham Saints recorded a 1-0 victory over relegation rivals West Ham thanks to an Iain Dowie header, which kickstarted a run of six straight First Division wins. Saints were rock bottom before the game but managed to pull themselves well clear of the relegation zone with their end of season form.
2001: Manchester City 0 Saints 1 Paul Jones kept his sixth consecutive clean sheet as Saints added to Manchester City’s woes at Maine Road. Dan Petrescu’s volley was enough to secure the victory.
2009: Ipswich 0 Saints 3 Saints cruised to their third win on the bounce under Mark Wotte as two goals from Jason Euell and one from Matthew Paterson, after only being on the field for 60 seconds after coming on as a sub in the 87th minute, defeated Ipswich.
2012: Leeds 0 Saints 1 Goalkeeper Kelvin Davis was the hero as he made a succession of fantastic saves as Saints collected an impressive victory at Elland Road.
Rickie Lambert had volleyed the visitors into the lead in the 16th minute and then it was over to Davis to produce a sensational display to keep the hosts at bay.

Iy s veen a while since Ive seen a team be this baive never mind Saints and you begin to wonder whether we can afford an inexperieced manager at this level. The trouble is they dont play this way on the continent you just dont often see the long ball over the top they like to keep the ball down and in midfield and create from there. Pochettino needs to learn very quickly. And where is Forren? I am seriously worried because defeats like that can knock the stuffing out of players and supporters its amazing how quickly confidence can go. I just hope the manager changes his formation and leave the centee backs behind because we simply cant afford to concede terrible goals like we did. We will go down if this is not put right,
Well, history of March 3rd 2013 should see the players who lost the game yesterday looking at themselves and asking themselves, "did I do my best for the Team, The Club and it's supporters?". If the answer is no, then they have a debt to all to put this problem right, and next game, do what they are paid to do, properly.

The players are not immune from the pressure created as a result and perhaps it preyed a little too heavily on some minds yesterday. As you say, let's hope it was a one off. No excuses at Norwich - plenty of positive thinking needed. I'm sure that would be NA's message.
I was also a bit miffed that the actual support noise that we normally get was in short supply, too much distraction from the anti-Harry brigade, the rest of us lost the plot at times, hopefully this was just an exceptional 'one off' and we can get back to doing the job properly in future.

That generated the Away Fans and not the support for the Team that provides a dynamo for the MIGHTY SOUTHAMPTON.
Saw the players one by one at a Autograph session yesterday - and all of them needed a lift to be at their FIGHTING BEST FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.
One Saints Fan said that Nigel would have won yesterday.
What is needed NOW is MP to stamp his authority within the CLUB and let's hear his voice - his passion - his drive - to GET THE WINS in the remaining games of the Season.
Yesterday the Gaffer seemed absent and the Players rudderless after a game that SAINTS (when they equalized) could have overwhelmed and SMASHED QPR.
KING ALFRED (One of the Top RA Bases) may not be open for business at the moment -regardless RED ARMY were on the streets around the base ;O)
OVERALL - WE NEED MORE GRIT AND FIGHT TO CONTINUE TO WIN.
FOX - GET THE F*CKING TACKLE IN
SHAW - FOCUS - JOB IS NOT DONE
UNTIL IT IS COMPLETE.
ALL PREMIERSHIP GAMES COULD END IN A DRAW - IT IS MP'S JOB TO GET RESULTS - HE IS NOT JUST A FIGUREHEAD !!
RED ARMY GO TO NORWICH TO WIN !!
COME ON RICKIE AND THE TEAM - GET FIRE IN YOUR BELLIES AND MAKE IT HAPPEN !!
RED ARMY 2013
CONTINUE TO FIGHT.
CONTINUE TO WIN. COYR

How often do you hear away fans complaining about their lot at St. Marys? The location where they are gives them every opportunity to get their message across, it's where the best acoustics are, they are rubbish at the Chapel End. The problem is with this kind of Stadium, not the fans in that area.
so the fans are being blamed for being too 'anti harry' thats why we lost. so what was the excuse for last week then?? yesterday was awful we kepted passing side ways n backwards with no cutting edge to go forward!! pardew and arry have found out pochs pressing game i wouldnt be surprised if Hughton does the same. We wil go to norwich next week completely dominate the game but will always concede soft goals!! i hope im wrong but im starting to see a horrible pattern forming!! for **** sake poch stip being so nieve n sort it out!!!!!!!!!!!

The Crowd got their way yesterday and the focus was on 'Arry. It pleased them to get stuck in Twitchy.
