Redknapp not worried about abuse from fans

Harry Redknapp insists he is not worrying about the reaction he will get from Saints fans when he returns to the club tomorrow.

Redknapp, now in charge at QPR, will be back at St Mary’s for the first time since walking out in 2005 to rejoin bitter rivals Pompey.

Supporters are set to give him an uncomfortable reception on what will be his 66th birthday, but Redknapp revealed he has no concerns about it.

“It’s my first trip back there since I left,” he said. “I’ll get a bit of grief, won’t I, but what can you do?

“That’s no problem. They’re not bad people there. I wouldn’t say Southampton supporters are nasty, aggressive people. They’re not.

“They’re good supporters there. They’ll give me a bit of grief, but that’s life. I accept that and I’ll just get on with it.

“I won’t lose any sleep over that. The only thing I’ll lose sleep over is if the result’s bad.”

I'm not sure the "brown envelope man" isn't trying to play mind games with the Saints fans, in that he trying to turn Saints fans away from the MOST IMPORTANT issue namely the 3 points onto himself.

My first ever Saints game was us against Liverpool at the Dell. Kenny Dalgleish was manager and the only thing I remember about the game (other than the fact we won) is a woman behind me shouting to KD to inform him he was a "miserable b@stard". I was SHOCKED!

I imagine lots of kids are going to remember tomorrow regardless of the result.

Basically if there was a league to be created named the skint, 23 games without a win playing in front of a half empty stadium league you would be classed as founder and ONLY members. go on a site called statto.com take a look there at the table .your see the saionts finished 18th out of 22 clubs .take a look at 1978 79 saints in thr first division premier league 4th division portsmouth in 7th place .so if you dont go bust and that a big IF .you will be back were you belong in the 4th division for the 2nd time .southampton as not and will never play in the 4th division .hampshires only club has not .suck on that for your facts on history .plonker

Wow...17 miles..yet so different...
Winning a cup( in a year when the other 3 semi finalists were lower league) for me is not of much interest.
Being constantly able to get into, and then stay in, the Premier is infinately more impressive.
Anyway, good for you. Stay in the lower leagues and harp on about a (immorally bought) cup, we'll stay in the big league as one of the top 20 teams in the whole land, thanks!

but the clubs can run with profit and flourish if they build infrastructure .it is the best league in the world ,.but you will forget your never see it again .nit with the new rules the premier league and top league across uefa have put in .clubs with old stadiums small fan base will not be able to compete anymore .find the scraps in league two .the bottom where you belong .your 2nd visit to the 4th tier .premier league you cheated and you f@cked it up you cheated and you f@cked it up

According to David Bick when contacted by The News, there is nothing more for Harris to comment on at this point, although his offer for the club still remains, despite the Football League saying the Trust’s bid is the only one they will sanction.

Bick is chairman of Square1 Consulting and serves as Harris’ spokesman.

He also ‘advises Southampton occasionally, from time to time’, working with Nicola Cortese since July 2009.

With Harris unwilling to be lured out of the shadows by anyone other than Sky Sports, Bick is authorised to speak.
