Redknapp not worried about abuse from fans
12:50pm Friday 1st March 2013 in Sport
Harry Redknapp during his days as Saints manager
Harry Redknapp insists he is not worrying about the reaction he will get from Saints fans when he returns to the club tomorrow.
Redknapp, now in charge at QPR, will be back at St Mary’s for the first time since walking out in 2005 to rejoin bitter rivals Pompey.
Supporters are set to give him an uncomfortable reception on what will be his 66th birthday, but Redknapp revealed he has no concerns about it.
“It’s my first trip back there since I left,” he said. “I’ll get a bit of grief, won’t I, but what can you do?
“That’s no problem. They’re not bad people there. I wouldn’t say Southampton supporters are nasty, aggressive people. They’re not.
“They’re good supporters there. They’ll give me a bit of grief, but that’s life. I accept that and I’ll just get on with it.
“I won’t lose any sleep over that. The only thing I’ll lose sleep over is if the result’s bad.”

Remember a few weeks ago the thick London media turned up expecting Saints fans to turn on the Club over Nige but imo most Saints fans can see pass the pre match flannel.
.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing tomorrow is a SAINTS WIN, when we have got that then we can turn our attention to Rosie.

The 1992–93 FA Premier League was the first season of the Premier League, the top division of English football. The season began on 15 August 1992 and ended on 11 May 1993. The league was made up of the 22 clubs that broke away from The Football League at the end of the 1991–92 season. In concept, the Premier League was identical to the old First Division of the Football League, which was now reduced to three divisions.
The Founder teams were
Manchester United (C)
Aston Villa
Norwich City
Blackburn Rovers
Queens Park Rangers
Liverpool
Sheffield Wednesday
Tottenham Hotspur
Man City
Arsenal
Chelsea
Wimbledon
Everton
Sheffield United
Coventry City
Ipswich Town
Leeds United
Southampton
Oldham Athletic
Crystal Palace (R)
Middlesbrough (R)
Nottingham Forest (R)
You will notice Southampton in this list, you not notice a certain other team who were blubbering about in a lower league, much the same as today. Its all about balance, its where they belong.
So apart from the extreme humiliation of being shown to be factually WRONG, it serves as a reminder that you never more than temporary squatters in the Premier League and are now back where nature intended you to be.
It also shows that you dont understand woirds like "founders" .. it probably sounds a lot like "flounders" .. with which you will be very familiar.
Now run along, you may just be in time for your daily reading lesson.

Right I would have thought founding members were teams that actually played in the league in the first season. Basically if there was a league to be created named the skint, 23 games without a win playing in front of a half empty stadium league you would be classed as founder and ONLY members. Loving the way you are getting behind a team managed by the bloke who has put your club in the mess it is in now.

Really?
Wow...17 miles..yet so different...
Winning a cup( in a year when the other 3 semi finalists were lower league) for me is not of much interest.
Being constantly able to get into, and then stay in, the Premier is infinately more impressive.
Anyway, good for you. Stay in the lower leagues and harp on about a (immorally bought) cup, we'll stay in the big league as one of the top 20 teams in the whole land, thanks!

Bick is chairman of Square1 Consulting and serves as Harris’ spokesman.
He also ‘advises Southampton occasionally, from time to time’, working with Nicola Cortese since July 2009.
With Harris unwilling to be lured out of the shadows by anyone other than Sky Sports, Bick is authorised to speak.

We'll miss out the LOST games to make a point!
We'll ignore the cheating that got us the FACup and the League titles!
We'll overlook Saints being amongst the elite of football for the better part of the last half century and concentrate on pre-war times!
We don't want to be in the Premier League because it's in debt!
We are going to own our club which is infinitely superior even when we are playing the likes of Barnet!
We have the best supporters even though we only take 200 to away games!
Your stadium is crap even though we don't own one!
It's not our fault we are in admin, we didnt know what was going on even though Saints fans could see it 4 years ago!
Pleeeease!
You talk like your team plays! Absolute sh1t!

Blackburn, and man city have all cheated to win their titles and other trophies, did you lot cheat yes because you did the same as all these clubs and bought better players to better yourselves ,YES you did, every club buys better players to better themselves, you did it to get out of league one and the championship, and you have bought better players for the prem, so shut up and think before you post all clubs do it.

YES all clubs spend money to etter themselves and sometimes sustain levels of debt. However ONLY ONE club in the Premiership has ever gone into administration. YOURS !
In case you don't understand what that means:- You attained success with money you didn't have!
It shouldn't be your name on the FACup, it should be HMRC 'cos they paid for it!
You are only deluding yourself if you think any other way!
