STAND by for Take Two of the Mike Finn and Billy Castle show.

Last year’s finalists from Churchills, Eastleigh, will again do battle for the coveted title of Southampton’s Town Champion.

Finn won the 2012 classic 4-2 in 77 minutes playing time. He compiled four breaks of more than 50 and Castle made a 115.

“Take One last year was pretty good,” admitted Finn. “(Billy’s) a different animal this year. I’ve got my work cut out.”

Indeed. Castle, a 2012 IBSF World Championship quarter-finalist, embarked on one of his trademark charges in the semi-finals at Eastleigh Railway Institute after Jordan Winbourne (Sarisbury Social) missed the yellow off its spot on a break of 79 to level at 1-1.

He restricted his 17-year-old opponent to just two points in the last two frames and ran out a 3-1 winner with a 45 and a 103 clearance helped by a pink to black shot that required “a bit of check side off two cushions”.

After the 70-minute match, the 20-year-old said: “I knew I had to dig deep. I potted some good long balls in the third and in the last one I managed to get my flow going. “(Jordan’s) improved a lot. He beat me last Sunday in a (EASB Under-21 Series) tournament and he’s a heck of a player.

“It’ll be a good, attacking final like last year. I hope I get my revenge.” The 103 was the Southampton & District Social Clubs League’s tenth century this season, equalling last year’s record.
