Paramedics and firefighters were called to a Brighton street after reports a man had injured himself.
Crews attended Vernon Terrace, near Seven Dials, at 1.45pm today because the man had sliced his hand.
A fire spokesman said the amount of blood on the pavement meant they had to clean it up safely.
A South East Coast Ambulance spokeswoman said a man in his 30s was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital suffering from a cut hand.
