Anyway, after a couple of days relfection, I would actually say our problem seems almost as much to be upfront. We ha 70% of the ball, and 17 efforts, so to only get one goal from that is actually quite poor. Green made one worldy-save, but other than that, we didn't make it difficult enough for the keeper. So, although our defence needs to cut out the errors, if our attacking players could be a bit more clinical, it would be irrelevant.
One thing I'd like to see is Rickie being more central, and within striking range on more occasions, as he seems to drift out wide or deep to link up, which he's very good at, but unortunately we don't have any other real goalscorers in the team, so when he's there he's not able to threaten. Jay-Rod seems to also be a ' deeper' player, and Gaston/Adam etc are also playmakers. Perhaps we need to give Mayuka a run up front alongside Rickie, but then I feel he lacks the physical threat yet to impose himself on Premier league defenders.
Our targets shouldn't have changed-17th this year is all we need, then bring in some additional quality in the summer( another real goal threat in particular) and also allow a couple more of our young lads to step up to the first team.

It is said that Forren picked up an injury while trying to get his fitness back, I think we will have to be patient while he gets back to full time training. I know we are not getting info from within, but that is no cause for conspiracy theorising. We could have made ground as the majority of teams around us didn't fair any better. The Villa result tonight could be critical, just hope Citeh turn up, unlike what they did at St. Marys.

The attitude you describe can be seen on here time and time again. It is more important for PFC to go into oblivion than for Saints to win.

It is more important to hate Harry than get behind the team.

I totally agree! I mean let's get our priorities in order. The skates and the pickle they find themselves in is hilarious but I'm more interested in our progress than them hitting the wall.

Their hatred for us defines them as a club,which tells you all you need to know about them. I like to think we are not at that level and that we have a richer history. Just look at the players who have worn our shirt and those poor buggers who have worn theirs!

I think if Shaw is injured the best option is to play with 10men.

Pochy is right, our system worked in that it was intended to create far more chances for us and restrict the opposition both of which we did. The players need to take responsibility a couple of individual errors at the back and missed chances up top. We have the squad we have and I'm sure will strengthen it in the summer - just need to better three other teams this season.

Anyone else see Coutinho? He set two up and was on hand for a tap in but Suarez didn't pass. We did our level best to sign him and I'm sure will go after others in the summer.

Pochy is right, our system worked in that it was intended to create far more chances for us and restrict the opposition both of which we did. The players need to take responsibility a couple of individual errors at the back and missed chances up top. We have the squad we have and I'm sure will strengthen it in the summer - just need to better three other teams this season.

Anyone else see Coutinho? He set two up and was on hand for a tap in but Suarez didn't pass. We did our level best to sign him and I'm sure will go after others in the summer.

Aye, Coutinho would appear to be pretty decent after all. Who knew?

But we'll be bringing in some continental flair in the summer. Of that I've no doubt.

coutino is ok but he wanted big wages iv heard hes on about 60.000 a week at liverpool ,now we dont want to do a qpr or pompey .we have to keep in the budget the same when buttner went to man utd .bring more in but within the budget .plenty of quality look at swasea spent well

Agree with most of this, Fox ball watching for their 1st, and what the hell was he doing running up and down the side line in the first half? get closer to your CB!! As you say, and I said last week on here, he is a LIABILITY!!
Rickie's job was made difficult with poor service which Samba lapped up. I don't see how we can play Ramirez and Puncheon together, they seem to want to play in the same areas

You are right when you say there were assets to sell in the dark days and that a buyer would have been found, but would they have had the finances and ambition to achieve what's been done. Looking at other clubs, I very much doubt it!

The journey to the premiership was a formality. The estate of ML threw money at the club and of course we got promoted. Just look at our budget compared to everyone else. Yes it was one year sooner than most expected ( including me ) but it was a formality. Buying the SFC brand at rock bottom and pouring in enough money to get us to the Prem was an investment no-brainer. It took virtually no skill whatsoever over and above that which makes any forward thinking football club tick. Now we are here its another matter. Big boys league with small boys behaviour. NC is gambling and those who fail to see it won't care to be honest, they will support the club thick and thin in whatever division. In fact so will I. BUT we have been given the opportunity for stability and its such a shame that the estate of ML can't see the sensible thing to do now and get rid of the chairman. Relegation will not be an automatic bounce back.
