1948: Coventry 0 Saints 1
Augie Scott netted just after half time to earn Saints their third win in four games which moved them up to fourth place in Division Two.
1954: Saints 1 Northampton 0
Charlie Purves featured in his last Saints game as they beat Northampton to move up to fourth in the Division Three (South) table. The only goal was scored by Eric Day, who finished the season with an impressive tally of 26 league goals in 46 appearances.
1962: Charlton 1 Saints 0
Saints succumbed to a goal straight after half time as they failed to show any attacking impetus at The Valley, a loss that saw them drop one place to fifth in the Division Two table.
1965: Derby 2 Saints 1
Saints’ poor run was extended to just one win in nine Division 2 matches, despite taking the lead through Martin Chivers at the Baseball Ground. The Rams won it with two goals in the last 12 minutes from Alan Durban and Ian Buxton.
1971: Burnley 0 Saints 1
Mick Channon headed the winner eight minutes from time against a Burnley fighting a relegation battle they eventually lost.
1973: Saints 1 Manchester City 1
Francis Lee fired a last minute leveller for City, after Brian O’Neil had put Saints in front right on the stroke of half time.
1982: Notts County 1 Saints 1
Kevin Keegan’s classy chip gave Saints the lead at Meadow Lane, but the hosts hit back to earn a First Division point through Gordon Mair.
1993: Wimbledon 1 Saints 2
A deflected Matt Le Tissier goal and a fine header from Kevin Moore helped Saints record back to back Premier League wins for the first time. Wimbledon had taken the lead through Dean Holdsworth before Le Tissier levelled just after the half-hour mark. With 18 minutes remaining, Moore provided a bullet header to claim the three points.
1999: Saints 1-0 West Ham
Hassan Kachloul scored his fifth goal of the season as Saints gained a valuable win in their quest to avoid relegation.
2002: Saints 1 Middlesbrough 1
Ten-man Middlesbrough earned a point at St Mary’s. Anders Svensson netted his third Saints league goal in the first half before Glenn Whelan levelled ten minutes after the break. The visitors were reduced to ten men just four minutes later when Italian Gianluca Festa was sent off.
2010: Tranmere 2 Saints 1
an Thomas-Moore scored a penalty five minutes from time as Alan Pardew’s Saints suffered a setback in their bid to reach the League 1 play-offs. Marlon Broomes had given the relegation threatened home side the lead before Lee Barnard levelled in the 12th minute.
2012: Saints 1 Ipswich 1
Jason Scotland’s equaliser for Ipswich five minutes from time at St Mary’s ended a three-game winning streak for the Championship table-toppers. Rickie Lambert’s strike 16 minutes from time looked to be enough for Nigel Adkins’ men.
