Saints have extended the contract of club captain Kelvin Davis until 2016, it has been announced.
The 36-year-old keeper's previous deal had been due to run through to the summer of 2014, but, despite having lost his position as the number one stopper at St Mary's, he has been given another two years.
Davis joined Saints from Sunderland in July 2006, for a fee of £1m, and has gone on to make 283 appearances for the club.
His updated contract will extend his period of service at Saints to a decade, taking him through to his testimonial season.
Davis has made it clear for some time that he wants to see out his playing days at St Mary's, and with his new deal taking him up to within a few months of his 40th birthday, it looks like he may be granted his wish.
