Maya Yoshida Maya Yoshida

Maya Yoshida is the latest Saints player to be called up for international duty this month.

The defender has been included in the Japan squad for their World Cup qualifier away to Jordan on Tuesday, March 26.

The Samurai Blue will also play a friendly match, against Canada, in Doha on Friday, March 22.

Yoshida joins Uruguay's Gastón Ramírez, Poland's Artur Boruc, Scotland's Danny Fox, Norway's Vegard Forren and Zambia's Emmanuel Mayuka in being summoned by his country.

The players will link up with their respective nations after this weekend's Premier League game against Liverpool.

All of these players have done well and they deserve to be called up for their country, although I strongly hope they do not get injured.

The only exception to this is Fox, he has been playing like... Fox.

That doesn't mean I want Fox to get injured, but I am surprised Scotland are so desperate.
