Saints handed FA fine

Saints have been fined £20,000 by the Football Association after accepting a charge of failing to control their players during last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Norwich.

The club were charged earlier this week in light of the reaction to a decision by referee Mark Clattenburg  to award the Canaries a penalty in added time at Carrow Road.

The official was surrounded by a number of angry Saints players, while manager Mauricio Pochettino confronted him on the pitch after the final whistle.

Fortunately for Saints, the decision to penalise Luke Shaw for an alleged foul on Grant Holt did not cost them anything in terms of points, after keeper Artur Boruc kept out Holt’s spot kick.

A statement from the FA said: “The FA has fined Southampton £20,000 after they admitted a charge of failing to control their players.”

Lesson learned I guess, I don't like it, but I hope they funnel all of that energy and adrenalin into the football side of the game, no point in approaching the Officials, they will never change their mind once it is made up.

The officials at the FA are just a bunch of senile geriatrics totally out of touch with reality. They are about as competent as Blatter is at FIFA. We had no alternative but to accept this fine. It won't make the slightest difference and it won't stop the same thing happening again under similar circumstances. We all know there are different rules for the elite clubs and it's time for a complete clearout ,and replacement by people with at least half a brain.

I suggest you apply, you seem to be well qualified and enthusiastic.

I understand that the players were incensed, but it was pointless. Lallana (as Captain) should have sent the others away and spoken for all of them. We pleaded guilty because we were guilty...why risk a bigger fine.

Lala had been booked just before half time for disputing an incorrect handball, so he had to keep out of it or maybe pick up a red.

I said during the game that Clatterbrain would go against us, he always has and always will.
Why don't the FA look at the Refs performance and fine him? If I have a crap day at work I could get fired... If a ref does it( and clearly ficks up) they back them... all the time!
And then they fick us around with the Chelsea game...
FA good for FA
