Poch: I lost it with players (From Daily Echo)

It's alright, according to some on here he doesn't speak any English, so they probably didn't understand him anyway.

No doubting the passion here, but there is always the danger of alienating players and having the reverse effect, whatever, it worked this time. He was right of course there were plenty of bodies in the box and any one of them should have hoofed it clear, but Fontes attempt rebounded off Sturridge straight to Coutinho, an element of luck involved too.

I guess that will help keep them on their toes and eliminate over confidence creeping in.
Doesn't Ferguson have a go at his players when they least expect it?
They've not done so bad for it.

Not a problem when you have the players respect (as Mauricio does). Sloppiness should be dealt with...we should be higher up the table...lapses have kept us in danger. I love the way he says in MY area, in MY box. Taking ownership there.

He looks so calm on the touch line. All is not what it seems. just like life.

Love that too! And he always says MY team, MY players. He never says THE team unlike Nige did!

Awesome result. I was worried at half time that we would do our usual dominating the opposition but failing to pick up three points - but we didn't and we did!

A Spanish rant would have gone over the heads of most of the team!

some people are forgetting that he DOES speak some English. just not well enough to confidently give an interview yet.

trust me, Spanish or English - he would have got his point across. And the lads would have taken it as well because he was right and they would have known it.

A mature player takes the rollocking, understands the important points and then improves.

The job is not finished, massive effort required from the team for the remaining matches. Holding chelski to a draw will be a good result, getting another win will be massive.

I used to get a little fed up with Nigels eternal optimism and back slapping regardless. Doesnt hurt to show some passion and critique someone to highlight where an error is or they can improve.
These are professional athletes who are paid mad amounts of money for their skill.. why handle them with kid gloves.

I'm glad cortinho scored, i won £325 big ones, correct 1st scorer and correct score, :-) big up me hooraa!

What a great weekend, apart from the Wigan result. My Misses like a flutter on the big races. So, as it was Cheltenham she put a £50 bet on a horse (more than she usually bets but she just had one of those feelings) at 20/1. It won!! Thing is, she did the bet on-line. The silly woman made a mistake, instead of placing £50 she bet £500 !!!!!!!!!!!! Should have seen her face when I got home on Friday.

I would have thought what happens in the dressing room stays in the dressing room.

Never mind I like his style and on Saturday some of the play was magnificent and ONE CAN ONLY CONGRATULATE Morgan, Jose and Ricki for the superb transition to this level and for the loyalty they have shown since Div 1 days.

We have quite a few Spaniards up here in Edinburgh (much in the same way that there's quite a few Poles in Southampton) - seems to me that Spanish women are a lot better at ranting than the blokes. I watched Poch intently on his first appearance against Everton. Tim Howard was taking a free-kick and Poch was ranting at Clyne on the Kingsland side. He was telling him to move back (by gesturing) and pointed to a specific spot where he wanted him to be. Clyne looked a bit miffed but obliged. They took the kick and it went to the exact spot where Clyne picked it up and ran forward. From that point, I thought this guy sees things,he reads the game and players well. I think he will be a real gem.

Read some Scouse posts at the weekend saying can we get the Saints manager!. This Echo story makes me like him even more.

Make sure she takes it out of her betting account or it could be gone by this Friday. Great result.

Did you see him ranting at Boruc in the first half when we pushed up and they broke away with a ball over the top.

Artur was stranded on his goal line when he should have been closer to the last defender, so he had the option of acting as a sweeper to close down the space.

I could hear his voice in the Kingsland, Artur was trying to ignore him, then after the third rant he acknowledged him with a nod of his head.

I think from the comments coming out of St Marys that these guys really respect both him and the mentality he brings i.e. of being as good it not better than any side in the EPL ..............

Thats potentially why he gets away with his fiery latin/Argie personality ......... He really has made these guys believe that they belong in the EPL, rather than being over the moon that they are just part of the EPL ????

I guess not, which begs the question, should the unthinkable happen and, to secure our Premier status, we needed a goal in the 90th minute at SMS against Stoke and Rickie deliberately palmed the ball into the net, would he be a hero or a cheat ..... or both?

Anyway, not getting complacent yet, but IMO, the Wigan win is more likely to have an impact on Villa than us.

Also seems to me that Sunderland can only win this season if the referee throws them the match.

Saw it at Fulham earlier this season when Hangeland got a soft sending off early in the game and yesterday they benefitted from three very fortunate decisions and only just managed to get a point!

For me would love to see QPR, Reading and either West Ham or Sunderland go down.

All of them stick to the old fashioned 'experienced professionals' mould, playing (bar QPR possibly) boring, physically football with off-casts from the big clubs on (bar Reading) more money than they deserve.

Sunderland have been particularly rubbish this season. There only really good run came when Fletcher was scoring with virtually every sight of goal (ie they were creating one chance a game and winning).

Would like to get three points against Chelsea just to give us some breathing space, but nine points from the eight we have remaining should be fine.

When you consider we've been a one-point-a-game team all season though, it may well be pretty tight.

Watching Saints V Liverpool and then Wigan V Newcastle was chalk and cheese. There was more skill and quality in any 15 minutes at St Marys then there was in the whole of the Wigan game. Villa did well beating the spiv and his bunch of mercenaries

Their young defence is their huge achilles heel which will lose them many points. But I hope they survive and the bottom 3 will QPR Stoke and Wigan although it will almost definitely be QPR and Reading and one other. NOT US!!!!!

That as far as I am concerned can only be for the good.

If Wigan stay up by 1 or 2 points then remember that! seriously hope they go down with QPR and Reading much prefer Villa at least we did the double over them
