YOUNG sports leaders from the School Sports Partnership have been selected to be instrumental in the success of the North Yorkshire Youth Games this year.
Twelve students from Norton College and three from Malton School attended a conference where they were trained in various activities to be organisers, referees, sports reporters and team coaches for the annual event in July.
Co-ordinated by Cath Stone, from Norton College, the young leaders spent a day at Queen Margaret’s School, Escrick, where they gained a greater knowledge regarding their chosen activities.
They will utilise this experience at the School Games on Sunday, July 7, when elite performers from each area in North Yorkshire will congregate at Queen Margaret’s to compete in the games.
