Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Emmanuel Mayuka needs to buck up his ideas if he is to get back into the Saints team.
The summer signing from Young Boys has not played for the club since before Christmas and is yet to score.
“It is clear that under me he has not played,” said Pochettino. “I haven’t played him yet.
“There are other players available that have played so it just shows that he still needs to work to be able to get into the squad.”
Mayuka has four years left to run on his St Mary's deal and will be hoping to make an impression sooner rather than later.
Fellow squad player Richard Chaplow is also hoping he has a future at the club, having spoken this week of his desire to re-establish himself after his loan spell with Millwall.
Tadanari Lee is another whose future is up in the air, with FC Tokyo already talking about trying to make the Japan international’s loan deal permanent after a bright start to life back in his homeland.
“These are things we need to look at it in the future,” Pochettino added. “It is clear we are following all our loaned out players.
“Up until this moment we have not made any decisions about them.”
