Mauricio Pochettino says his side have nothing to fear from the remainder of the season if they perform like they did at Tottenham.

Saints played superbly at White Hart Lane, and probably should have converted one of two good chances to take a deserved lead.

However, they were caught out as former Saints star Gareth Bale produced a piece of magic to bag the three points for Spurs with four minutes remaining.

Results elsewhere mean it could be a nervy end to the season for Saints with Sunderland away and Stoke at home to come but Pochettino is relaxed after this performance from his side.

He said: “We just have to get points from the next two games.

“We tried with everything we had and we weren’t able to do it but competing the way we did and to perform the way we performed I don’t think we will be in that battle or have problems.”

He added: “I think it was a cruel defeat because we did enough not only just to draw but to win the game.

“We were lacking that little bit of luck in football you need to succeed.

“We haven’t had it recently and not again here.”
