The church was packed as hundreds of people turned up to see a vicar installed.
Reverend Javaid Iqbal’s job title as the team rector for Aldenham and Shenley and team vicar for Radlett was made officially at a special ceremony yesterday.
Father-of-three Rev Iqbal, who was ordained when he was 25, joins the village from a role as a team vicar in Leicester.
He was formally installed by the Bishop of Hertford Paul Bayes, and Archdeacon of St Albans, Ven Jonathan Smith.
Members of Hertsmere’s Council of Christians and Jews also turned up to the event.
