A SCHOOLBOY from Monmouthshire showed he had a lot of bottle when he received an unusual message on holiday.
Jack Phillips, ten, of Goytre Primary School, in Penperlleni, found the bottle washed up on a beach in Brixham, Devon, while on holiday with his parents.
The bottle was sent by a group of year four and five school children in Alderney, in the Channel Islands who sent a message in a bottle in the hope it would be answered.
The pupils had launched two bottles, asking whoever found the bottle to write to them at school, explaining where the bottle was found and a bit about themselves.
Besides the bottle in Devon another went to Normandy.
Jack then brought the bottle in to school and shared his experience with his classmates.
Jack said: “It was the first time anything like that had happened to me .
The year five student replied to the message writing: “I hope your letter went as far as you wanted it to go.”
