Saints target Victor Wanyama has revealed that his potential transfer to St Mary’s has stalled because the personal terms offered were "not right" for him.

Celtic have already accepted a bid for the Kenyan international, but the midfielder has rejected Saints' first proposal to him.

Wanyama said: "While the bid was ok for Celtic, the terms were not right for myself and my agent.

"I am open to what offers are made, but I am relaxed and it's important that Celtic are happy too."

Premier League newboys Cardiff are said to have made their own counter proposal in a bid to persuade Wanyama to join them.

Saints could also be facing a snub from £15m-rated Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who said he has been made an offer by the club but is not yet convinced.

Mauricio Pochettino is also chasing the signature of Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo, although he too is reported to be holding out for a move to a more established club.
