Saints kicked off their Barclays Under-21 Premier League campaign in perfect fashion, with a 4-3 win away to Liverpool.
Despite falling behind early on, Saints equalised in the 13th minute through Omar Rowe, and shortly afterwards went in front through Jake Sinclair.
Rowe then smashed in a rebound after Corby Moore’s shot had been saved, to make it 3-1 after 27 minutes.
But the hosts stormed back before half-time, scoring twice to make it 3-3 at the break.
However, a second-half howler from the Liverpool keeper allowed Sinclair to put Saints back in front, with Martin Hunter’s development side holding on for an entertaining win.
