Hampshire's Lions tamed by Bangladesh A
7:08pm Tuesday 20th August 2013 in Sport
Michael Carberry and James Vince missed out on a run feast when they opened together for the England Lions for the first time.
Carberry hit a 35-ball 20, including a six and two fours, as the pair shared 30 for the first wicket in a 202-run win against Bangladesh A at Bristol.
He and Vince, who was caught at the wicket for 18 (40 balls), failed to make the most of their opportunity as Luke Wright and Gary Ballance shared a fourth-wicket stand of 225 in just 20 overs.
Lions captain Wright smashed an unbeaten 143, his highest List A score, from just 68 balls, including 11 fours and TEN sixes, while Ballance contributed an 89-ball 115 as the tourists conceded 353-4.
Bangladesh were bowled out for 151 in reply, with Danny Briggs taking 2-37 from his ten overs and part-time off-spinner Carberry taking the last two wickets in his only over to complete the rout.
The Lions play two more 50-over games against Bangladesh A this week, both at Taunton, on Thursday and Saturday.
