Spitfires back on track with Boreham Wood win
6:19pm Saturday 31st August 2013 in Sport
Eastleigh returned to winning ways and recorded their fourth clean sheet in five matches as they overpowered an out-thought an inferior Boreham Wood side, winning 3-0 at Meadow Park.
The portents were good for the Spitfires when in the first minute Stuart Fleetwood struck a wicked free kick against the frame of post and bar.
Eastleigh had to wait until the 41st minute to break through when Craig McAllister, pictured, headed in Dan Spence’s near post cross.
The lead was doubled on the hour when Fleetwood broke into the hosts’ area and clipped a low shot in at the far post.
After Matthew Ball had rattled the visitor’s bar with an 18 yard half-volley Jai Reason completed the scoring by drilling an 80th minute penalty low and hard into the middle of the goal after Ben Strevens had been up-ended by Mario Noto.
