A memorial bench in honour of ex-Saints defender Kevin Moore has been unveiled at the White House residential care home, in Curdridge.
The Dell legend died in April this year, aged 55, after battling a rare form of dementia known as Pick’s disease.
The former centre half had spent many years visiting and being cared for at the White House while he was ill.
To honour his memory, as well as the work of the centre’s staff, a special bench has been created, using money from the Kevin Moore Benefit Fund.
It bears the inscription ‘In memory of Kevin Moore and Glory Days’.
Kevin’s wife, Mandy, said: “We wanted something for the White House residents and the staff to have, because Kevin had such a happy time here, and it was a big part of our lives for a long time.
“They do a fantastic job. Kevin was really happy here. You never worried about him and it was a great feeling to know he was in a place where he was happy.”
Saints legend Matt Le Tissier, a friend and former teammate of Moore, was on hand for the unveiling, as were Richard Becheley and Lisa Catlin, who have been involved in the set-up and organisation of the benefit fund and its events.
Donations to help towards the fight against dementia are still being accepted. Anyone wishing to contribute can send a cheque payable to ‘The Kevin Moore Benefit Fund’ to 1 St Simon Close, Locks Heath, Southampton SO31 6DH.
