Injury crisis hits Eastleigh
Captain Russell Smith is sidelined after injuring his knee in training and joins Stu Mason, Philip Baldwin, Pete Noonan, Martin Kirby, Greg King and Dan Achillies.
Paul Fudio, Jon Lynch and Chris Cove are rated 50-50 for a start.
Smith said: “I’m gutted because this is a game where we should be looking to pick up five points.”
However Smith has called on some experienced senior players to fill the many gaps.
He added: “The team we are putting out are more than capable of doing the job but have not had the advantage of playing together this season.
“Individually they are fantastic players. It’s a matter of if they can gel as a 15 on the day – that is what rugby is all about.”
Smith described last weekend’s opponents, Ellingham & Ringwood, as “awesome” and “the best SW3 side we have played against” after they lost out 38-20.
The Es head for Surrey to take on Old Mid-Whitgiftian and Sandown & Shanklin host KCS Old Boys.
