King and Dibben in GB's Euro squad
11:12am Friday 4th October 2013 in Sport
Hampshire cyclists Dani King and Jon Dibben have been named in British Cycling’s team for the European Track Championships.
This year’s event will take place in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, from October 18 to 20.
King is fresh from breaking the team pursuit world record at the National Track Championships alongside her London 2012 colleagues Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell, as well as Elinor Barker. The quartet is joined by Scotland’s Kate Archibald in the women’s endurance squad for the Euros.
Dibben joins Olympic gold medallists Ed Clancy and Steven Burke in the men’s endurance group, along with Owain Doull, Sam Harrison and Andy Tennant.
Shane Sutton, British Cycling’s performance manager, said: “The 2013/14 track season is now underway, and we are sending a full team out to Apeldoorn for the European Track Championships in preparation for the World Cup in Manchester just a couple of weeks after.
“It’s the start of the season, so we don’t know where we’re at compared to the rest of the world at this moment in time. However, we saw some strong results at the National Track Championships last week and we’re looking to be in good shape as a team so it will be interesting to see how that stands up against some international competition.”
