Saints are one of the top-flight's lowest spenders on agents fees, it has been revealed.

Figures released by the Premier League, covering the period from October 2012 to September 2013, show that the club's expenditure was £2,184,412.

Only Hull, Swansea and Crystal Palace spent less than that on agents fees. Palace, at £869,531 were the only club to come in below the £1m mark.

The figure for Saints is despite them being one of the division's biggest movers in the market place, with an outlay approaching £40m on player trading in that period.

The club have also indicated that the vast majority of their total related to fees for salary increases, rather than paying agents for transfers, which Saints say they are against doing.

In total, Premier League clubs spent a record £96m on agents, with Chelsea leading the way on nearly £14m.
