Full-time at Stamford Bridge, and it is back-to-back defeats in the Premier League for the first time this season for Saints. Mauricio Pochettino's side are seventh in the table after 13 games of the campaign. Thanks for joining us today. We will have a report and reaction for you on the website soon. And we will be back on Wednesday night, with a blog from St Mary's, as Saints take on Aston Villa.

6:05pm

CHELSEA 3 SAINTS 1

6:02pm

CHELSEA 3 SAINTS 1 (Demba Ba 90)

That should finish the game off. Ramires curls in a cross from the right, and Ba slides in to poke the ball past Paulo Gazzaniga at the near post.

6:00pm

CHANCE (88 mins): Dani Osvaldo tries a side-footed half-volley from 20 yards, but the ball loops wide of goal.

5:57pm

Dani Osvaldo booked for a tackle on Juan Mata (85 mins).

5:56pm

CHELSEA SUB (84 mins): Fernando Torres is replaced by John Obi Mikel.

5:44pm

CHANCE (72 mins): After Jay Rodriguez is booked for dissent, Demba Ba misses a great chance to make it 3-1 for Chelsea. The striker latches onto a long ball, produces a superb touch to put him through, but drags his left-foot shot wide of the far post.

5:39pm

SAINTS SUB (67 mins): Morgan Schneiderlin, who appeared to pick up a groin injury, is replaced by Rickie Lambert.

5:35pm

SAINTS SUB (63 mins): James Ward-Prowse comes off and is replaced by Steven Davis.

5:34pm

CHELSEA 2 SAINTS 1 (John Terry 62)

Juan Mata swings in a cross from the left and John Terry glances a superb header across goal and into the far corner to put the home side in front.

5:30pm

SAINTS SUB (58 mins): Artur Boruc is forced off after injuring his hand during Chelsea's equaliser. He is replaced by Paulo Gazzaniga.

5:28pm

CHELSEA 1 SAINTS 1 (Gary Cahill 55)

Artur Boruc pushes a Frank Lampard free-kick over, but from the resulting free-kick Demba Ba deflects a Branislav Ivanovic header against the post, and the ball drops kindly for Gary Cahill to head in the rebound.

5:14pm

The second half is underway. One sub for Chelsea at the break, with Demba Ba replacing Michael Essien.

4:59pm

Chelsea 0 Saints 1

4:57pm

CHANCE (44 mins): Artur Boruc makes a stunning one-handed save to keep out Fernando Torres' header from Juan Mata's cross. Luke Shaw then hooks clear from inside the six-yard box.

4:54pm

CHANCE (41 mins): Chelsea's best chance of the half arrives as Fernando Torres digs out a cross from the right. However, Oscar's header from six yards out doesn't have enough power on it to beat Boruc. Oscar, who required treatment for a knock shortly beforehand, is then substituted for Frank Lampard.

4:53pm

CHANCE (40 mins): Adam Lallana cuts past Ramires just outside the area, but drags his right-foot shot tamely wide from a central position.

4:53pm

They've kept him quiet so far

Daily Echo:

4:46pm

Michael Essien booked for a clear dive in midfield (33 mins).

4:38pm

CHANCE (25 mins): Ramires fouls Dejan Lovren about 25 yards out, but James Ward-Prowse's free-kick is off target.

4:33pm

CHANCE (20 mins): Oscar fires in a swerving shot from just outside the area, which Artur Boruc is able to parry.

4:31pm

And celebrates...

Daily Echo:

4:30pm

Jay Rodriguez scores the opener after just 13 seconds

Daily Echo:

4:22pm

CHANCE (10 mins): A superb change of pace from Fernando Torres sees him split Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield. He then knocks the ball past Dejan Lovren and looks set to go clear through on goal, only for Jose Fonte to make a crucial tackle.

4:16pm

CHELSEA 0 SAINTS 1 (Jay Rodriguez 1)

What a start! An absolute gift for Saints, who take the lead after 13 seconds. Michael Essien's slack backpass falls into the path of Rodriguez and he slots past Petr Cech for 1-0.

4:10pm

Referee Michael Oliver gets the match underway.

4:06pm

The teams are out here at Stamford Bridge. Just a few minutes until kick-off now. Stay with us throughout the game for updates.

3:54pm

The Saints and Chelsea teams head down the tunnel at the same time after completing their respective warm-ups.

Meanwhile there was a huge cheer that rung around Stamford Bridge - it came as a result of fans in the concourses seeing Hull go 3-1 up against Liverpool

3:31pm

Daily Echo: Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has had some kind words to say about Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino in his programme notes:

Today we face Southampton, who I am happy to say are managed by my friend Mauricio - a manager that I know well from my Spanish times, a person who I have always had a good relationship and, of course, I am happy with his good work in English football. From the first moment, I told him: "You are going to love it there," and we can all see how comfortable he is working in a club that trusts him and gives him stability, as well as the conditions in which to work and succeed. I praise Southampton Football Club, their board, Mauricio and, of course, their fans and players. Today we will have a difficult match, but for sure Southampton will have one of their most difficult matches of the season.

Jose Mourinho

3:23pm

That's two changes to the Saints side that lost 2-0 to Arsenal.

Rickie Lambert is dropped to the bench to be replaced by Dani Osvaldo while Dejan Lovren is fit again and takes his place in the centre of defence with Jos Hooiveld missing out.

Jack Cork is on the bench in place of Harrison Reed.

3:17pm

THE LINE-UPS

CHELSEA: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Essien, Ramires; Mata, Oscar, Hazard; Torres.

Subs: Schwarzer, Cole, Mikel, Lampard, Schurrle, Willian, Ba.

SAINTS: Boruc; Clyne, Fonte, Lovren, Shaw; Wanyama, Schnedierlin; Ward-Prowse, Lallana, Rodriguez; Osvaldo.

Subs: Gazzaniga, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Chambers, Cork, S Davis, Lambert.

Referee: Michael Oliver.

3:03pm

SAINTS SQUAD NEWS: Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino will welcome back Jack Cork and Gaston Ramirez as he takes his side to Chelsea. Cork missed the defeat at Arsenal with an ankle injury but is now fully fit whilst Ramirez is back in contention after also missing the 2-0 loss at the Emirates Stadium after a late return from international duty. Pochettino confirmed it is unlikely either Harrison Reed or Sam Gallagher will retain their places in the squad, with Guly do Prado a long-term absentee after undergoing knee surgery.

3:01pm

CHELSEA SQUAD NEWS: Striker Samuel Eto'o is to miss the clash with Saints and is expected to be out for two weeks with a groin injury. The Cameroon forward sustained the grade one tear in Tuesday night's Champions League loss at Basle and was replaced by Fernando Torres, who made his return from an adductor injury and could start at Stamford Bridge as Jose Mourinho rotates his options for the first of nine December matches. The Saints clash could come too soon for defender David Luiz despite his return to training from a knee injury, while midfielder Marco van Ginkel, who is out with a knee injury, is a long-term absentee.

2:50pm

2:49pm

Hello and welcome to this afternoon's blog from Stamford Bridge, where Saints are taking on Chelsea this afternoon. Mauricio Pochettino's side start the day in seventh place, but will be looking to jump up a few positions in the table. They will have their work cut out against a Chelsea side that have never lost a home game in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho.

I think you mean "Incidentally ..." Good effort though.

Maybe we should all just leave each other alone. It's not as if we are connected by anything other than motorway now, is it? Portsmouth have their own problems to keep themselves busy, while Saints have these high standards to maintain, which comes with its own kind of pressure. I'm surprised either side has the time to bother with the other.

It's easy to blame the keeper and also unfair. The defence as a whole failed.

they cant help themselves, AB was the villain last week and we lost because he went off today. Osvaldo went missing, lambert would have been better.
we have just lost to the top 2 teams in the league and both away. I`m not too disheartened though but hope the injury to AB isn't too bad, did spider also go off injured?

2nd half very disappointing. Seemed to me Chelsea were winning vast majority of second balls and finding their players so much better than Saints. We lost any control of mid-field. Sometimes you can score too early and today was a prime example. Always felt Chelsea would go on to win if they scored. As much as I am pleased with Saints progress this season the way Chelsea took control of the game highlighted how much more has to be done to even dream about Champions League. No sign of Ramirez and Osvaldo hardly covered himself in glory. Rumours of both moving on in January will no doubt rise to the top and on evidence to date neither will be a great loss. Next game against Villa has become an almost win game to maintain any form of positive momentum as Man City are hitting form and a loss and/or draw against Villa and pressure to gain anything out of Man City will be immense.

Fair do! Chelsea were very good in the second half. Their pressure was just too much but Saints did have a very good first half. But I don't like conceding from set pieces and The manager will say something about that.

Not disgraced but a bit of a lesson.

Hope Artur will be back quickly.

just waiting to see what the skates have got to say. I can hear them shuffling their smelly way to the keyboard now.
Do we care what any of them say? We've just lost away from home to a side who will finish high in the league. The skunts are in the bargain basement playing sides every week who are equally as bad as they are. Our only concern about today's game is that Artur and Spider didn't pick up bad injuries. The fact is we didn't play great, we had no penetration up front, we failed to take advantage of the early good break, and Chelski wanted it more.

We'll be fine.. Chelsea and Arsenil are very experienced against pressing play.. they short pass up front much better than most.. I'm a very proud Saints supporter, will keep the faith and know we will be back to barnstorming pretty quick... The top two are moving away but we are in this league fight for Europe.. we had how many English players, how many young graduates? was that the 4th fastest goal? Don't get negative because of little errors here and there this team and club are being recognised as the real deal for the future.. fresh air in the prem.. COYS

Seriously peed off. A goal up we should at least had a draw against a Chelsea team who are just living on reputation. Why did we collapse?

Not too disappointed as 4 points from Chelsea, Man u, Liverpool and Arsenal away isn't the end of the world. I thought we were comfortable 1st half and Chelsea really turned up the heat in the 2nd half and deserved the win in the end.

We won't come up against that sort of pressure too much this season and losing to 2 championship contenders away from home is hardly a disaster.

I just hope everyone is fit and well for Villa. I feel Poch might rest some players for that game as we looked a little jaded 2nd half

Bring on the Villa.... COYR

I have to agree, Osvaldo wants that extra touch. Near the end of the first half someone made a free run on the right but he wanted his extra touch.... chance gone. I wish Lambert had started and we find a Lukaku type player.
First game I can say we deserved to lose this season.

Nope just feel even more peed off so I can't think how the players feel - they must know with just a little more self belief they could be challenging for the Premiership. As such we now we have to settle for mid table.
Osvaldo may be OK in time but Lambert has been their and done it. I am enjoying the ride but January will show how high we want to go.

Hee hee. It seems out neighbours are pride of Europe. LMFAO. Poopey are already in the right league, just 5 or six places above where they deserve to be. The mighty Saints are currently sitting 7th in the best league in the world, valued at over £300million pounds and a country mile ahead of where the scunts will ever be. I'd suggest a name change to "massive and jealous delusion 3000" for our latest idiot poster from Nottarf Krap. . It would seem we have another dopey Muppet to laugh at every time we drop points. Fortunately the extremely low intelligence levels of the Poopey tw@ts mean there is a never ending supply to give us something to laugh at.
