BLACKFIELD & Langley boss Glenn Burnett has mixed emotions about tomorrow’s change of FA Vase venue.

The Watersiders had originally been drawn away to Wessex rivals AFC Portchester in the last 64.

But Graham Rix’s men were turfed out for fielding a player without international clearance, handing Western Division One outfit Shepton Mallet a reprieve.

“I’ve got friends at Portchester and I feel for them because they were going so well. It’s tough for them to take,” said Burnett.

“But, on paper at least, it looks as though Shepton Mallett could be a better tie for us because they’re in the league below.”

Having won nine and drawn two of their last 11 league games, fourth-placed Blackfield can travel to Somerset in good heart.

With hitman Alex Baldacchino expected back from injury, they have a full squad available – including new signings Wayne Crutcher and Micky Hubbard, who are both eligible to play.

“If we get through, it will be the furthest the club’s ever been,” said Burnett. “I’d like to see all four Wessex sides in Monday’s draw.”
