SAINTS Under-18s were not the only youngsters to hit seven goals in a cup tie on Tuesday.
Rickie Lambert was at St Mary’s for the FA Youth Cup win against Pompey a few hours after helping to inspire Hounsdown School’s under-13s in the ESFA PlayStation Schools Cup.
Lambert, pictured with the team, coached the Hounsdown youngsters before their fourth-round tie against Ferndown Middle School.
A Ben Scorey hat-trick and two goals from George Coombs helped Hounsdown progress with a 7-1 win, securing a place in the last 32 against Bohunt School, Liphook.
“I really enjoyed the session, there was definitely talent there,” said Lambert.
Hounsdown PE teacher Scott Bryant said: “It was a treat for everyone to have Rickie here, the lads haven’t stopped talking about it and did well to concentrate on the game – even the Pompey fans in the team!”
