Rickie the talent spotter

Daily Echo: Rickie Lambert Rickie Lambert

SAINTS Under-18s were not the only youngsters to hit seven goals in a cup tie on Tuesday.

Rickie Lambert was at St Mary’s for the FA Youth Cup win against Pompey a few hours after helping to inspire Hounsdown School’s under-13s in the ESFA PlayStation Schools Cup.

Lambert, pictured with the team, coached the Hounsdown youngsters before their fourth-round tie against Ferndown Middle School.

A Ben Scorey hat-trick and two goals from George Coombs helped Hounsdown progress with a 7-1 win, securing a place in the last 32 against Bohunt School, Liphook.

“I really enjoyed the session, there was definitely talent there,” said Lambert.

Hounsdown PE teacher Scott Bryant said: “It was a treat for everyone to have Rickie here, the lads haven’t stopped talking about it and did well to concentrate on the game – even the Pompey fans in the team!”

Agree, come on SRL if you must wear that colour top at least do it without smiling. And why is Moby now coaching U13 football I used to like his music particularly the Bourne theme tune

My thoughts exactly. It's in Totton, isn't it? My mum used to work there. Who are these parents raising their kids as Portsmouth fans? Isn't that a kind of child abuse?

Well done Rickie and definitely change the Team colour to Red it's a lovely colour, surely Rickie apart from Coaching the Team you could chip in with the new Red colour strip now that would be a wonderful gesture and rename them with the last word Saints because I sure you could afford it on your £200 a week?? I have one grievance, Rickie the team you knocked out were my Team from the past as I had 15 years in Ferndown including my Junior School days but being as you are part of the only League Team I've ever supported I'll forgive you COYR

Just to clarify a few points:
There is a maximum of one Pompey fan in the team, and yes that may be considered one too many but they will come to their senses eventually?
The blue kit is not their usual team kit, the ESFA Schools Cup and match are sponsored by PlayStation, so they had to wear the kit they were provided with. Yes it would have been better if the kit was red, but unfortunately that was out of their control.
Thanks
