AFTER a long absence, the final of the 2013/14 Hampshire FA Senior Cup will be held at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park ground.
The change of venue will give extra incentive to the four Portsmouth area teams who went into the hat for yesterday’ quarter-final draw.
Two of them – Wessex League rivals AFC Portchester and Petersfield Town – have been drawn against each other in the last eight.
Gosport Borough will entertain AFC Bournemouth’s development squad, while Havant & Water-looville host an all-Conference South tie against Farnbor-ough.
Whitchurch United, who knocked out Eastleigh’s reserves in an earlier round, host a north Hampshire derby against Basingstoke Town.
Ties will be played in the week commencing January 20.
The last Hampshire Senior Cup final to be held at Fratton Park was back in the early 1990s.
Since then, all but one of the finals have been played at either The Dell, St Mary’s or Bournemouth’s Dean Court.
The one exception was in 2000 when Aldershot thrashed Andover 9-1 at Basingstoke’s Camrose stadium.
