Don't think he'll go, realistically we won't have him forever, the short term, we'll be a starting ground for managers like Poch, but he's not ready yet, give it another season or 2 to really learn the Premiership coz Spurs fans and media demand instant results, its been a managerial wasteland at Spurs over the past decade or so, twitchy aside, but look how quickly they turned on him!

You wrong mate ! lets be honest here man to man Spurs are way better than Saint no offence the table don't lie ! The problem with Spurs they bought too many players and they don't have time to gel together also in recent match the team selection was odd at time that's their downfall. But I don't think Pochettino will go but you never know at the moment Spurs are in Europe and with the squad that they have they can achieve semi final if they put the work in

The table shows that Spurs are a mere 3 points better than Saints which is nothing at this stage, frankly. Moreover, pound for pound I'd say Saints are better. Spurs spent 100 million this season, we spent about 30. Plus we have a youth academy that is building for the future. Spurs might be marginally better off as of today, but I reckon Southampton would be the more enticing prospect for an ambitious new(ish) manager. Also, at Spurs Poch would be managing someone else's team, not one he has helped assemble or with players he chose to promote.

We have spent most of this season above Spurs, and lets face it it is this season that matters, so how they can be WAY better is beyond me, but then you don't tend to come down on the side of Saints do you Mr Brighton supporter

Yep, Mauricio is loving his time here and we will reap the rewards over the next couple of years. I can’t see him going to Arsenal at the end of the season either when they sack Mr Wenger for another capitulation and trophyless season. Real Madrid will be our manager’s next port of call.

Ludicrous but not surprising - journalists, pundits, commentators, they all still talk about us as a 'surprise package' as if we got lucky. They imply that players, coaching staff will move on to bigger, more successful(?) clubs. They might if they are not part of the plan; but MP is very much part of the plan and so are our best players. And they believe in the plans for the club. And that is why we are where we are. Why on earth would MP give up on SFC (I believe money will not be a problem)? His next move, in 4 or 5 years time after we have secured the Premier League title, will be to a serious big club like Barcelona or Real. Spurs are a pathetic football club and they are in for a hiding on Sunday.

MoPo is happy where he is - a club with a long term plan and a club with a world class academy. If he did move, Tottenham would be the last place he'd choose because it's precisely the opposite. I reckon MoPo would rather manage a beetroot factory.

Spurs is the perfect job for one of those much-travelled money-orientated managers who are looking for a five year contract payoff for one year's pre-dismissal work.

Spurs started to lose it as soon as they lost their Saint to Real Madrid. Of course they've spent the £100m they got for him, but buying new ones hasn't done the trick. It's obvious if you want a player who can, he needs to have the famous and ever-reliable "Made in Southampton" stamp on him.

MP is the Southampton manager who has shown countless times he is very smart and unlike many managers uses his head first. So quiet simply he is the manager any club would want now even the manks over Moyes. So it would only take a second thought that Levy is a joke and spuds are the great pretenders and nothing more! Southampton is the future and MP is an intelligent man to know that future is red and white.

Not to mention hat NC would never allow it! MP is committed to the project at hand with Saints and has already shown his huge support and backing to NC. So he working for the best chairman, why on earth would he work for the clown which Levy is!

Can I remind everyone what Pochettino said in the summer when there was talk of the Don leaving :-
These are real quotes from him showing his loyality to the Don :-
(May 16th Echo )
''When I first arrived here, nobody knew who Mauricio Pochettino was,'' the Saints boss added.
''Nicola put his faith in me and knew me from way, way back.
''When I got to know his project, we were basically on the same wavelength as to what we wanted for Southampton in the future.
''Basically, my future in Southampton has to be with Nicola.''

Can I remind everyone what Pochettino said in the summer when there was talk of the Don leaving :- These are real quotes from him showing his loyality to the Don :- (May 16th Echo ) ''When I first arrived here, nobody knew who Mauricio Pochettino was,'' the Saints boss added. ''Nicola put his faith in me and knew me from way, way back. ''When I got to know his project, we were basically on the same wavelength as to what we wanted for Southampton in the future. I think there's more chance that Andy Flower will be invited to Spuds to show the world what a great sports coach he is (ha!) than there is of MP leaving Saints.

The bookies job is to offer everyone plenty of tempting bets to encourage business. So, along with the jobless, anyone doing a reasonable (Laudrup) through to fan-bl00dy-tastic (MP) job at a club perceived to be 'smaller' than Spuds is going to get linked.

Personally, I think Levy will try to tempt Laudrup but he'll only go if he's allowed to bring in Terrence77 as his right-hand homme.

No hate from me, Terrence. You have the right to your views and I can understand where you're coming from. I totally disagree with you about Spurs being way better than Saints but they do have a squad of very good players who could someday (please not this weekend) start to gel and challenge nearer the top.

My tongue was firmly in my cheek with my comment. You just have to accept English humour for the often acerbic joy that it is. It's part of your education into being accepted as a 'froggie' over there. It's a bit like me, a 'rosbif' having to adapt to life here in France.

Bonne fête et bonne année, aussi bien.

Speaking personally, no I don't miss Saints playing the skates, hopefully I never will see it again. I recommend you go on the Spurs forum and tell them that you are an Arsenal fan who has sympathy for their cause, let me know what their response is.

Why on earth would MP give up on SFC (I believe money will not be a problem)? His next move, in 4 or 5 years time after we have secured the Premier League title, will be to a serious big club like Barcelona or Real. Spurs are a pathetic football club and they are in for a hiding on Sunday.
Agree except I believe in 4 or 5 years time we will be a seriously big club.

Poch won't go anywhere. He doesn't strike me as a man who is driven by financial gain and even success, although the ultimate goal, seems secondary in his thinking.
The philosophy is what I believe is the driving force behind this man. Bringing youngsters through the ranks and turning them into top flight players and building success fits perfectly with all he has learnt through the game right back to his roots with Newells Old Boys. His philosophy is ours and it's a shared identity that he won't get anywhere else.
Money? Promises of Trophies? No, he's a principled man and 'The Southampton Way' is the glue that will see him stick with us.

Admirable and inspirational stuff StHalo. I certainly buy it. But that philosophy is only sustainable though if we win trophies so whilst MP knows how we he wants to go about things he also knows that he has to win trophies to continue go about things in the way he wants to (time to call it a day I think).

@terrence77

There are two kinds of leaders in the world, those who lead by principals, what my dad would call, people with personal constitution, people with uncorrupted mind, and loyal, driven by success rather than money, they often use their skills to the service of others, and want to make a name for themselves, a heavy income for their service is the last thing in their wish list, these people are very hard to come by....my dad told me!

And we have those who are driven by money, 95% of Yankees fall into this category :-) ...These kinds of people will do anything for money...

They trade their knowledge, experience and skills just for money or personal gain...

For example people like Jose Mourinho wouldnt take a job at smaller clubs, he wants a club with resources, not just to afford to pay him, but also a club that can afford and allow him to buy any player he wants, nurturing young players to top class players isnt for him..

Well we haven't seen him nurture any young players to maturity yet,
so whether he is capable of doing so, we don't know ...

what we have seen so far from him is buying well proven top class players at any cost...

For Example here in the south coast with MoPo we have seen something different.... our players look fitter and perform better under his leadership, some are now playing for the 3 lions, so he got the skills to get the best out of his players….

Any way, where were we?….for young players being at Chelsea's academy could be waste of time, coz chances of breaking into first team are very small.... the club wants success, and they want it now..
No surprise Josh Debayo our new under 18 has joined us from Chelsea, he know that we are the future….

good lad!!! :-)

Here is the best part of my post..

MoPo seems like a man who is driven by success, and a loyal man, a man with ambition, he has start something he wants to finish, he doesnt look like a type that would leave a job half done...

Moreover he seems to have a close relationship with Cortese, which is vital to a club stabilily, I mean both moving in the same wave length, they share the same passion ambition and goals, he has been given the freedom to manager the squad and transfers, which requires a great deal of trust ...

I personally think it will take more than Spurs to break their bond...
So i am not worried about Clubs wanting MoPo, it wont happen, well at least not in the near future.

but I will worried about clubs wanting Cortese....again Markus Liebherr was Cortese personal friend, and he wants to carry his legacy and vision of this club, so unless he is forced out, i don't see him leaving something he has vision for.....he might also have a moral obligation to his cause, who knows…

Beleive it or not we have the best charman in the world,

if you are aware of some of cortese's projects for this club, you will understand my praise for the chairman..

so I will be very surprised if MoPo has decided to leave..

So my fellow Saints fans don't panic, ..the club is getting us involved, with updates and projects, behind the scenes and so on which is wonderful..

We just need to support our club in highs and lows.

Enough said... :-)

Lol! ;-)
You're right mate, he will have to win ultimately but he will win his way following his beliefs. I love 'im!

Thank you Tebourba, you have changed, or have I mistaken you for someone else?
I beg your pardon???
Just an in-joke, no offence meant to your good self, yours was a good post, the complete opposite to what one of our recent and most negative posters would have said.
I am a realist and a mathematician , so I try to put things into prospective....Thank you for clearing it up for me, I do have a very strong defensive attitude , i can predominantly be angry with those who irrationally criticize the players, the team and other posters...at the same time i also believe it is an egalitarian place for every individual wanting to express their opinion.... but we also need to be aware when posting a negative comment we must expect a reaction....

One poster tried it in here, then he realised that he wrote a checque he could not cash...in other words he had to get out of the kitchen coz he could no longer stand the heat....but he was the one started the cooking...

Anyway.....i got my season ticket and i am looking forward to spurs game..

You speak the truth but now in football money talk so god knows where Luke Shaw gonna be in the summer. I always said that Pochettino would be a good replacement for the professor Wenger
There is no question it's all about money these days, like I said very few people would put aside financial gain in favor of personal achievements..

But I just hope Cortese will stand by his words, when he said, We are no longer a selling club.....I had a chance to go and see the new training ground envelopment, it's amazing....A project like that can only be done by someone who wants to hang around for a long time.....

Wenger and MoPo are two different managers, Wenger likes young imports, but MoPo likes home growns.....should he decide to move to London, either MoPo or Arsenal will have to change their clud's philosophy..

We cant really tell, only time will tell...nothing we can do really, but hope that he will be our manager for a long time.....

I personally think it will take more than Spurs to break their bond... So i am not worried about Clubs wanting MoPo, it wont happen, well at least not in the near future. but I will worried about clubs wanting Cortese....again Markus Liebherr was Cortese personal friend, and he wants to carry his legacy and vision of this club, so unless he is forced out, i don't see him leaving something he has vision for.....he might also have a moral obligation to his cause, who knows… Beleive it or not we have the best charman in the world, if you are aware of some of cortese's projects for this club, you will understand my praise for the chairman.. so I will be very surprised if MoPo has decided to leave.. So my fellow Saints fans don't panic, ..the club is getting us involved, with updates and projects, behind the scenes and so on which is wonderful..

Well if you think that languages are within the parameters of words then you are an ignorant fool.....

knowing how to write is one, but writing something interesting is quite another, this is beyond any language skills...

communication skills are beyond language skills ....you may have language skills, which are yet to be proven anyway, since you have never written any article before, but communications kills are what make you stand up from the rest..

Our manager is a living proof of that.... despite English not being his first language, his communication skills have been proven..
