MANCHESTER United have again been linked with a move for Saints starlet Luke Shaw.

David Moyes is apparently planning to make a £20m offer for the England under-21 left back.

It is not the first time Shaw, 18, has been linked with the reigning Premier League champions - and it almost certainly won’t be the last eiher. Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino has repeatedly insisted that Shaw won’t be leaving St Mary’s next month.

“It’s a very clear situation. The player wants to stay and the club is not willing to sell,” he said recently.

“What we also need to consider is he still only 18, still progressing, still learning how to be an experienced player so we need to be very calm about the situation.

“It is taking him some time to mature as a player and I think all these rumours and this speculation around him is not beneficial for him.

“It’s negative for him. “It’s also very clear what the project here at Southampton is – it’s a project of young players and Luke Shaw is a prime example of a young player who has come up through the ranks.

“What’s clear is that the player is not for sale and the player has stated he doesn’t want to go anywhere else.”

Moyes is also being again linked with a January transfer window move for his former Everton left back Leighton Baines.

One left back seemingly on his way out of Old Trafford is former Saints target Alexander Buttner.

The Dutchman looked set to move to St Mary’s in the summer of 2012, before joining United instead. Buttner has only made one Premier League start under Moyes, plus one more sub appearance.
