Poch laughs off quit reports

Daily Echo: Mauricio Pochettino Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino laughed off reports that he is set to leave Saints at the end of the season.

The Italian media have suggested that the highly thought of Saints boss will depart for pastures new in the summer, when he will have just a year left to run on his contract.

Pochettino admitted talks over a new deal have not yet begun but insisted the reports of his likely departure were incorrect.

“In Italy there is a new piece of news happening every single minute and most of them are contradictory from one hour to the next,” he smiled.

“What can I say about it? I think if we paid attention to every single report that came out in Italy we’d probably go mad.

“I can’t really comment on something that has no solidity to it.

“I am happy here of course.”

He added: “There haven’t been any talks about an extension of the contract.

“There isn’t any news about that and the moment that does happen I will answer that question.”

Agreed - time for Nicola to extend that contract!

I hate the disreputable sections of the media - they do drive me nuts, Click bait, unsubstantiated rumours, online tapping up - flaming disgrace to what used to be a less ignoble profession.

NC is one clever MF…he makes sure that Mo Po can deliver before a new contract arrives,,ie wants to be sure Espayol's demise WAS (and it was) the clubs fault not the manager being a one trick pony…

Summertime and we will be another signing (Mo Po) to the good and three to follow...

These ruddy rumours make me puke, 13 months ago an Argentinian Man Mauricio Potchettino becomes Southampton FC first Team Manager, he was given the job by Nicola Cortese who knew him and his work but he wasn't known in the UK, he immediately makes an impact with his attractive style of Football then continues halfway into his 2nd season with reasonable successfully and before we all know it he's off and so is Nicola Cortese, why is it that Southampton are not allowed to be ambitious and successful?
It's always perfectly normal for teams such as Man U, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs but not Southampton, it's as if a Carrot is being dangled in the faces of M P and N C every minute of the day, who starts this annoying rubbish?

I hope it's rubbish because the Players read Newspapers and if they want to believe it they too can be affected, it could cause disruption and discontent and affect there game and the Team and it certainly touches a nerve of every Saints Supporter, perhaps rubbish news has to be made up to divert the pressure David Moyes could be having as he's expected to be successful and he's getting all the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

I suppose I mustn't allow myself to raise my blood pressure but at the moment it is boiling and who can blame me, the sooner these stories die a natural death the better and allow Southampton FC become a success for many years to come COYR .

I mentioned on an older thread, with Rodgers getting an £8,000 fine and Moyes on the carpet, I think we have been misreading the situation about criticism of Referees somewhat, think about it, Moyes/Rodgers slag Referees off and get fines and bans, we politely ask for a Referee to be investigated, make a bit of a fuss, then walk away, Clot hasn't come out of it smelling of roses as it has been proved he did say what he was accused of, and however trivial, it opened a can of worms about the closed shop investigations of the Authorities. any thoughts.

Innit. People write stories and make TV programmes often with the sole intention of stoking debate on social media. Hence we have Channel 4's 'Benefits Street' which seems to exist almost exclusively to get people moaning about the unemployed on twitter, rather than to actually educate people what life on benefits is like. Hence people employ Katie fcuking Hopkins to pass controversial opinions she doesn't actually believe on every subject under the sun. Hence the Daily sodding Mail generating millions of hits by publishing poison designed to inflame right-thinking people. Hence Jeremy Kyle etc etc etc.

The internet is an amazing thing, but its impact on journalism is a double-edged sword. Sports journalism is no different - establishing the truth is often less important than spreading juicy rumours. To be fair, the Echo is far less guilty than most.

Please forgive me I don't understand your comment (This) can you help me, I hope you liked my comments.
Mopo has not cut his 2nd teeth before the sharks want him somewhere else and of course still half a season left, the Supporters and Player love him, why can't he be left to continue his good work, he's the best thing since slice bread to come to Southampton FC and has a point to prove and a project to fulfil

Best thing for everyone is not to buy these tabloid rags. If you do, just treat the nonsense they come out with as playground gossip.
I have not bought a "newspaper" of any kind for as long as I can remember, I get my information from reliable sources.
If you want to play a "hunt the rubbish" game, jot down every rumour in a transfer window and then, when the window closes, mark all of the ones that actually happened. You won't be doing much marking!!
